Yes, it was a Glorious Day on June 13 when nearly two hundred friends and co-workers assembl- ed at Epsom School to say, '"Hap- py Days Ahead," to Doris Arm- strong who is retiring as School Custodian. School Custodians in Durham presented Doris with a beautiful gold wrist watch. The School Board presented her with a Lamp of Knowledge pin. There were numerous other gifts. The gift from the community was a beautiful chaise lounge, a table to match with tray and tumblers. After very brief speeches from Durham Board, Teachers, Durham Custodians and friends, Doris thanked one and all and cut the beautiful cake. A beautiful day with Doris on Cloud Nine. On Wednesday, Doris had another surprise when Rev. Jack Hill and his wife Doris of Langley B.C. called. Doris Hill spent the day in Epsom. On Sunday, Earl and Marie Wilson and Scott, Dennis and Carol Irwin, Mark and Tim motored to Stoney Creek and after attending church, spent the day visiting with Rev. Richard Lewchuk, Joyce and grand- children Leah and Simon. On Wednesday, Earl and Marie Wilson, Lois Elford and Grace Evans attended the funeral of Willard Alderson in Lindsay. On Sunday afternoon Mrs. Ar- nold Kerry held a family shower for Miss Donna Kerry. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Jones and Lila Faulkner. Pat Asling ook her parents to Oshawa on Sunday for lunch then called on Hazel Asling of Ajax. Welcome home Rev. Wm. and Mrs. McKay were guests of their son Dr. Wm. McKay and his wife of Halifax for a wonderful tour of Europe. We are pleased to have them with us, 'Safe and Sound." Sunday at Epsom Church was A lady of leisure Sunday School Recognition Day a very impressive service as teachers Pat Sutherland and Georgina Sutcliffe for Junior Class. Primary Class Collette Bertrand. Kindergarten Class ~ Linda Irving and Donna Kerry. Nursery Class Faye Ashton and Marlene McKay. Paul Baster - Senior Class - called their pupils to the front to present them with their Certificates. : Mrs. Irene Fielding was presented with a hand em- broidered quilt made by the teachers in appreciation of her work as superintendant. Donna Kerry also was presented with a gift. Mrs. Fielding presented Bibles to Sally Irving, Nicole Accerra and Lisa Taylor who had attain- ed their 13th birthday. Next Sunday will be an old time Hymn Sing at Utica Church at 11:15 and the dedication of the new pews, new organ and Hymn Books. After the service a pot luck lunch and picnic for all. See you Sat. June 24 at 8 p.m. at Epsom Church for a Communi- ty Shower for Donna and Jeff. Ladies bring finger food. All come! Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Acton and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Evans had Sunday supper out after visiting their mother at Uxbridge Health Centre on Sunday. June W.I. meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Edna Meyers, the planning committee were in charge. Community picnic will be July 30 at the home of Harry and Ruth Boadway.
