Gerrow 60th Reunion is fast approaching by Gail Sheridan For 58 years, the Gerrow Fami- ly members have held annual pic- nics in various locations. This year our reunion was held on Sun- day, June 4, 1989 at Nestleton ~ Community Centre and for the first time we were filmed on video. 55 of the Gerrow Clan were warmly welcomed by Cecil and Ivah Fralick. Jim and Jan Gerrow started the superb sports program with a Scavenger Hunt. Young and old participated in the fun races and games. Lawrence Malcolm and Mike Sheridan were in charge of setting up the tables and setting out the delicious Pot Luck Buffet which was served at 5:30 p.m. After grace, President Clarke Ross led in the observance of a one minute silence in memory of those who had passed away since the last reunion. After supper, the president con- ducted a business meeting and an election for the new executive was held. Winners of the races were recognized and special prizes were given for 1st person with: 1. a paper clip - Jean Bailey; 2. a safety pin - Erin Malcolm; 3. their own wedding photo - Barry Malcolm; 4. a man with hole in sock - Dennis Malcolm; 5. a woman with keys - Jan Gerrow; 6. youngest member attending - Aric Malcolm - 13%. months; 7. oldest member attending - Everett Clarke; 8. family travell- ing the farthest - Barry & Joan Malcolm & family from Simcoe, Obituary 'Ethel Irvine Ethel Millie Irvine passed away at the Port Perry Hospital on Thursday May 4, 1989. She wasin her 77th year. Ethel was born in Norfolk, England in the year 19183, She came to Canada in 1929 and set- tled in Port Perry. Ethel mar- ried James Irvine in 1933. They had 10 children. Ethel was an active member of the Senior Citizens Club and for two terms served as presi- dent. Ethel Irvine was the beloved wife of the late James Irvine, dearly loved mother of Olive Smith of Port Perry, Barbara Evans of Port Perry, Jean Walk- er of Port Perry, Winston Irvine of Oshawa, Winnie Tobin of Port Perry, Herbert Irvine of Uxbridge, David Irvine of Ca- van, Darlene Gibson of Sea- grave, Ken Irvine of Prince Al- bert and predeceased by May Raby. Loving grandmother of 30 grandchildren and nine great ndchildren. Sister of Her- rt Howard of Matheson, Stan Gyton of England and Fred Gy- ton of Toronto. A funeral service was held at the Wagg Funeral Home on Mo- nay May 8th at 1:30 p.m. Inter- ment Pine Grove Cemetery. Rev. R. LePage officiated. The evening was spent playing Bingo which was con- ducted by Jim & Jan Gerrow, or having a good ole gab, catching up on family news. Our 60th Anniversary is ap- proaching in 2 years and we are planning a special program. Maunsell Gerrow, the Family Historian has been researching the Gerrow Family history for the past 20 years with help from some of the family members. He hopes to have it printed for the 60th Reu- nion. He would appreciate the loan of old family photographs for the history. Hope to see you next year and to help plan for our 60th.
