And in response to a direct question from the floor, Mr. McCoy said his committee "has a mandate to carry on with the study." _He told the meeting the committee was appointed by the council, and the feasibility study itself was approved by the previous council. The cost of the study is $28,000, with half coming from the Township's lot levy fund, and the remainder from a Win- tario grant. The consulting firm that will conduct the study is the same one that completed the Recreation Master Plan for Scu- gogtwo yearsago. Mr. McQuaig outlined the steps Sesquaig will follow in preparing the study, and at one point he told the meeting that if the study finds that new recrea- tion facilities are not justified at this time, that will be the rec- ommendation from his firm. Sesquaig will spend two days in July (6 and 6) meeting privately with any group or in- dividual. And anybody wanting to meet with the consultants can book an appointment through the Township office. Later this summer, a precis of the draft report in the form of a questionnaire will be mailed out to all residents of Scugog asking forinput. And there will be a further public meeting this fall once the draft precis is completed. The final report will be pre- sented to the citizens recreation committee which in turn will re- port directly to the Township council. y tax group The study will examine both the cost of building and op- erating new facilities such as a second pad and swimming pool. "During last Thursday's meeting, Mr. McCoy pointed out that the citizens recreation committee reports to the coun- cil. He said the final decision on whether to accept or reject the committee's recommenda- tions rests with the elected Township council. Meanwhile, the citizens group against unjustified taxes will be holding a public meeting to-night (June 27) in the Nestle- ton Hall.
