Sympathy goes to Merrill and their family Dale and Janet Van Camp, Mary and Michael, Marie and Bob Attfield and boys and Valerie Van Camp as well as many relatives and friends. The funeral well be held at Blackstock United on Wednes- day afternoon at 3 p.m. On Saturday afternoon Julia Vanderheul and Duarte Oliveira were married in a pretty wedding at the United Church. The recep- tion and dance were held in the Ballroom at the Royal York Hotel where both the bride and groom are employed. They will be away for a honeymoon to Holland. Best wishes Julia and Duarte. The Durham County Holstein Club's annual Twilight Meeting will be hosted by Donith Hols- teins, Donevan Smith, Blackstock's illustrious young farmer. This event will be held on July 6 with the B.Q. beginning at 6 p.m. and entertainment later in the evening. Tickets are $6.00 in advance or $7.00 at the door. For tickets call Donevan at 986-5084, Ivan Dejong or any other Holstein breeder. Everyone is welcome. The O.N.O. Club June meeting was held at the home of Jean Go- ble. Final plans were made for the Grade Eight Graduation Banquet on June 28th. A discussion regar- ding "Husbands' Night Out" revealed several ideas. A couple of members will work on preliminary plans. In progress are arrangements to host a one- man show by Rod Beattie entitl- ed, "Letters from Wingfield" Farms" this November. . Remember Swim Bus departs 8 a.m. on Tuesday July 4th. Be" punctual if you are registered. Next meeting will be July 13th. On Sunday afternoon a com- munity bridal shower in honour of Elizabeth Luke, bride-to-be of Jim Weir was held at the C.E. Room of the United Church. This event was co-hosted by Liz's neighbours Edith McLaughlin - and Pat Sleep assisted by several friends. After Elizabeth had open- . ed her many beautiful gifts she graciously thanked everyone for the gifts and best wishes. Our community is losing several families who have been with us for several years. Joan and Wayne Cochrane and Doug are moving from their farm south of Blackstock to Richmond, near Ottawa. On, Saturday afternoon many Cartwright residents attended the Open House to celebrate Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wilson's 60th wedding anniversary. Congratulations. The Graduating Class of 1979 of Cartwright High School met for a reunion on Saturday at the home of Linda McKague in Woodville. Those attending were Katie Breen [Schmidt] Tammy Chilco [deMerchant] Roy Cowling, Jean Horton, Linda McKague [Duives- teyn] Lois MacLeod [Van Camp]. Several spouses also attended. The evening was spent with much reminiscing and visiting as many of the group had not been together for at least several years. As usual Roy had a hard time getting a word in sideways. Things haven't changed much in ten years! A successful Strawberry supper was held Saturday evening at the . _ United Church. Other celebrations included her Gramma Babe Brown who shares the date along with Wilf Brown, her uncles and aunts and Grampa Bob and Nana Nancy Bryans. The annual Wilkins Family Pic- nic with the descendants of the late Mary Gaud and Morley Wilkins was held with about 30 at- tending at the home of Patti and 'Rick Alpe and Nathan [a great great grandson] on Highway 57.on Father's Day. ) Patti and Rick Alpe and Nathan attended his Mom Carmela and Arturo Alple's birthday in Guelph on Sunday. The three person race is a tough job of co-ordination. But nothing is impossible if you put your all into it as these energetic boys seemed to do at Cartwright Public Fun Day. Many of the children were absent but those present enjoyed races, relays, kick the shoe, etc. John & Jane Bradbury have just returned from a holiday in Scotland where they attended the wedding of John's niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Breckenridge. Summer guests returning with them are John's sister and her husband, Mary & Eddie Brady from Croy. Mrs. Crosier returned on Thurs- day from a visit with her daughter Donna Robison and family in Sacramento, California. While there she attended the mar- riage service of her grand- daughter Kathy Robison and An- thony Bertrand. Jean & Wally Scott of London and Donna Scott and her daughter Neysa of Toron- to accompanied her to California. Congratulations to Mrs. Crosier on the birth, on June 20th, of a great grandchild, Jamie Kyle Stewart Beare, son of Dale and Karen Beare of Waterdown.
