He was elected to the one year term at the Association's annual conference held last week in Thunder Bay. Edwards election to head this Chiefs Association marks the second time a Durham Re- gion Chiefhas held this post. Also at the conference last week, the Chiefs Association voted against a recommenda- tions from a provincial task force on the police and race rela- tions. The Association rejected a recommendation that members of visible minority groups be placed directly in the mid ranks of police forces and be granted accelerated promotion.
