boar asked industrial park Scugog Council has told a developer that it wants up-scale "prestige" development for a proposed industrial park on Concession 6 just west of Port Perry. And this could mean curb and gutter roads, attractive buildings, and a restriction on outside storage. Lawyer George Smith, rep- resenting Mr. Bianchet who owns the 96 acre site, told coun- cil his client is concerned he doesn't get "priced out of the market" when it comes to sell- ing theindustrial lots. However, Mayor Howard" Hall said that "we feel there is a need for up-scale, prestige in- dustrial park close to Port Perry." And he said industrial de- velopment officials with Dur- ham Region agree with the need Large crowds attend Twilight beef B.B.Q. for this kind of industrial site. He urged Mr. Smith and his client to talk to the industri- al commissioner with Durham Region. Part of the reason why council is insisting on the pres- tige aspect for this industrial development is the proximity to Port Perry residential areas. The Bianchet land is the buffer between industrial land to the west and residential land to the east. Mr. Smith said his client is anxious "to get moving" on the development and is willing 'meet the demands imposed by the Township for no open stor- age on at least the part of the lands that abut residential are- as. Mayor Hall said council will make its decision on the proposal in the near future. Epsom and Area News by Jean Jeffery This has been one busy weekend. If the Region has to keep one lane of the bridge open to traffic, the work will take twice as long and be more costly. In response to a question from councillor Yvonne Chris- tie, he said the one lane bridge in the hamlet that would be part of the detour is able to han- dle the increased flow of vehi- cles, including heavy trucks.
