Lisa says that they are try- ing to help teach prenatal cou- ples how it is possible to avoid cesarean sections. Between 20 and 30 per cent of all births today are by cesare- an section, many of which are unnecessary. "We feel that a generous estimate of necessary cesareans would be about 10 per cent," explained Lisa. "It has been medically proven not to be best for women to goin for elective caesareans. There is a 22 per cent chance of a premature baby with elec- tive," said Lisa. "There is 26 times the risk of maternal moral, A 50 per cent greater risk of disease and the normal risks of anesthesia." The Cesarean Birth Sup- port and Education Group is trying to help doctors under- stand that each pregnancy, la- bour and delivery is different and should be considered sep- arate from the previous one.
