The Joker (Ken Curry) and the little Jokino (Justin Curry) were fully into the spirit of Moonlight Madness. While other shopkeepers dressed in goid and black, or wore night gowns to work, the entire staff at Nuts about Chocolate amused their patrons by coming out as characters from Batman legend; Joker, Penguin, Catwoman and at least two Batper- sons. Keeping in character, the Joker was frequently playing tricks on young visitors. Double vision? These bats were behind the counter at Nuts About Chocolate - making you wonder exactly what was in that frozen yogurt. it all had to do with Moonlight Mad- ness last Thursday evening. Stores downtown stayed open late and begulled patrons with sale specials until midnight. PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, July 11, 1989 -- 35 62 Annual Beacock reunion On Saturday, June 17, a cool summer day, 78 members of the Beacock family celebrated their 62nd Reunion. It was held at the Blackstock Recreation Centre. At 12:30 P.M. registration took place and refreshments and visiting were enjoyed soon afterwards. The children then enjoyed races and games held outside before a downpour of rain brought them inside. Prizes were also given for the best home made musical in- strument, made previously at home. They then watched a video while the adults held the business meeting. During the meeting an "In Memoriam" was held for the following members who had pass- ed away during the past year -- Viola Beacock, Ernie Nicholson, Grace Hockridge (Mrs. Murray H.), Byron Hyland, and (Rev.) Leigh George Beacock. Prizes were awarded for: The youngest present - Lindsay Beacock (8 mos.) ; The oldest lady present - Margaret Irvine (92 yrs.); The oldest gentleman - Donald McLean; The longest 356 KING STREET W. Foot Care Services in Your Home. married couple - Cyril and Mary Clarke; The family who travelled the farthest to the reunion - Donald and Jean McLean from Cornwall, Ontario; The newest married couple - Louise and Ralph Sloan; The family with the most descendants present - Marion and John Mew; The door prize was won by Ryan Beacock; The amount of pennies in a jar on the registration table was come closest to by Lisa Salterman. At 5:00 p.m. a delicious pot luck supper was enjoyed by all. After supper was cleared away, everyone enjoyed an hour of entertainment by a magician from the company "Birthdays" from Peterboro. The youngest children were particularly en- thralled and were often asked to help with the tricks. Balloon animals were given out to all the young children. Then all relaxed and enjoyed a half hour of piano playing by Archie Walker. A video was then shown of the fashion show put on at the 60th Reunion.
