There will be a euchre in Utica Hall this Friday starting at 8 p.m. Congratulations to Jeanette Houghland and Andrew Stribling who were married on Saturday morning at the Houghland farm. Reception followed at Utica Hall. They will be residing at St. Thomas. Recent visitors with Mrs. Crosier were Dale & Karen Beare and baby Jamie of Waterdown. Mrs. Irene Fielding attended the wedding in Little Britain United Church, of Tim Anness Obituary and Cindy Gorrill and the wed- ding dapce in Oakwood Communi- ty Centre on Saturday. Sunday visitors with Irene were her niece Ruby & Ron Jibson of Owen Sound, Rhonda Hutton & children; Donna Wakeford, Bill & Frank Fielding. b 4 Hillis & Carol Wilbur have just returned from a trip west, visiting points in British Columbia and Alberta. They had a real nice visit with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Aird in Kamloops and over the three weeks travelled to Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper & Edmonton and spent two days at the Calgary Stampede, before returning home on Friday. Vera Hazel Lee Vera Edith Hazel Lee passed away on Monday May 8, 1989 at the Port Perry Community Hospital. Vera was born in Reach Township on August 13, 1898. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Cook of Prospect. The family moved from the farm to their new residence at Myrtle Station in the early 1920s. : Vera graduated from Public School and then remained at home to help with the younger children. She took an active part in the church and studied piano. Later she taught piano and had successful students. She learned and practised the art of painting on china as well as being an ac- complished dressmaker. She did bookkeeping for her father who was in the Real Estate business. She often talked of the wonderful garden parties held on the farm and the good times the young peo- ple enjoyed. Vera was married to James A. Lee of Reach Township on June Church gospel concert The Abundant Life Singers of Cedarville College, Cedarville, Ohio will be featured in sacred concert at the Port Perry Baptist Church on Sunday, July 23 at 6:30 p.m.. Comprised of ten young peo- le, the Abundant Life Singers po sung in churches, schools, and camps throughout the States. The public is cordially invited to hear their program of gospel music. Cedarville College is a Baptist College of Arts and Sciences and Professional Programs located in Southwestern Ohio. Currently enrolling 1892, the school offers over 40 academic areas of study. Fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, Cedar- ville is also accredited by the Na- tional League for Nursing and is certified by the state of Ohio to train elementary and secondary teachers. The marriage was per- formed by the Rev. James An- drew Miller in Toronto. They resided in Greenbank for 51 years. Three daughters were born at Greenbank. Mary June (Mrs. Glenn Smith), Marina (Mrs. Robert Palmer) and Helen Lee. Vera was a member of Green- bank United Church, Women's Institute and the United Church Women. " Vera became very interested in the antique business and operated a most unique shop from her home for 40 years. Anyone who frequented "Vera's Antiques" was always treated to cookies and tea and a good understanding about antiques. Following the death of her hus- band in 1981 she moved to 249 Bigelow St. in Port Perry. She lov- ed the fellowship of family and friends and always kept a keen and alert mind. A funeral service was held from the Scugog Memorial Funeral Chapel on May 11, 1989 with the Rev. David Sheppard officiating. Interment at Greenbank Cemetery. The many floral ar- rangements and donations were indicative of a gracious and respected lady. So good to see her, she has just returned from the Calgary Stampede!
