Emedi Lumber Ltd. of Downsview has filed the appli- cation on 544 acres of land on lots 20-23, Concession 1. Mr. Emedi told council the intent is build some 400 estate residential homes on the land. "You will never get 544 acres of land re-zoned for estate residential development. Dur- ham Region will never amend the Official Plan for this," said Mayor Howard at the meeting. The area at this time is not served with Township roads, and it is in roughly the same area where property owners have experienced problems with dirt bikers and drivers of four wheel vehicles. Council turned down a re- quest to re-zone the land before the Region deals with the Offi- cial Plan amendment.
