Mini soccer results It was a great weekend for the mini soccer tournament. The weather was in favour for the kids. All teams gave us a great deal of enjoyment to start the day off. The first soccer game started at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning and continued into the early after- noon. Soccer games really started to heat up as we approached the A and B championships with the Rotary club winning the '"'B" championship as Amber McCann scoring the winning goal. Scugog Moving and Storage won the runner up's for '"'B" divi- sion. Big V had a great champion- ship game with Mathew Breen pulling out a hat trick of 3 goals to win the "A" championship against Sportsland taking the run- - ners up for "A" division with Mathew Welts scoring both goals. With all this great tennis playing weather, the 'firey femmes" of Wednesday morning ladies league are burning up the courts and my "new this season tennis shoes" whose soles are now bald! Barring the shoe problem, things are looking up; my hips don't resemble ships anymore, (I can actually fit into my 13 yr. old's OP shorts), the forehand is straightening out and I can now achieve over the net and well placed services "twice in a blue moon." This is a great sport and I am becoming quickly addicted to it. The people involved at PPTC are just as much fun as the game and there's never a dull moment. We've just concluded one fun tournament last weekend with another scheduled for early August. I find great inspiration in watching some of our young peo- ple compete at such proficiency and I'm picking up some new tricks by observing them. This coming Wednesday, July 26th, will be our last Wednesday out at Seagrave (9:30-12:00) as the lads summer camp will be concluding. In closing I would just like to wish '"'Bon Voyage' to Tony Tenwesteneind and Beth Charles, and family who are off to Guelph. They both played very instrumen- tally in the success of PPTC (not to speak of great tennis) and will be sorely missed. Until we talk again....
