This match could have gone either way with the outcome still in doubt right down to the final out. Both teams are to be congratulated for their determination and effort in this game. Kevin Duncan ended a 3 run rally in the last inning by striking out a Greenbank Four-Kee batter. However, the pitcher of the day was Michael Bent. He pitched 4 innings and gave up only 3 runs while striking out 7 batters, in- cluding the whole side in the fourth inning. The fielding gems of the game were made by Tamara Empringham and Shona Moase in centre field. Scott Harper and Jonathan Froats also helped out defensively with some great plays. Scott caught two pop- ups and executed two force-outs at second while Jonathan had two pop-ups at short-stop. Offensively the stars of the game for B & R Electric were Kevin Duncan and Cara Vander Slagt. They both went 4 for 4. Kevin had a homerun, two doubles and a single, which upped his season ending average to a spectacular .882. Cara played her best game of the year as she hit a triple, a double and two singles. Also helping out offensivley were Shona Moase, Jeffery Ashton and Scott Harper. Shona and Jeffery went two for three with Shona hitting a triple, a single, plus she took a walk, while Jeffery had two solid triples to go with his walk. Scott, another hitting sensation, entered the game hitting .926 but was held to a double, single and a walk. In all his times at bat this season he on- ly failed to hit or collect a walk 4 times. Everyone on Greenbank Four- Kee played a great game. Their two outstanding players were Jay Fletcher and Kevin Edwards. Jay pitched 4 excellent innings while Kevin pitched 3 good innings plus had 2 hits. One of them was a homerun. To make it to the finals, B & R Electric also had to win 2 other games this week. The first one was on Tuesday, August 15, ver- sus Greenbank Perfect Heating and the second one was versus Bruton's on Saturday morning. Both games were very close. Jonathan made a spectacular catch in centre field while Jason executed an unassisted double play at second. Offensively the stars of the game for B & R Electric were Kevin Duncan, Jonathan Froats and Shona Moase. Kevin had a tri- ple, 2 singles plus a walk, while Jonathan had a triple and a dou- ble plus a walk. Shona had 2 singles to go with her walk. For Greenbank Perfect Heating, the offensive stars of the game were Jeromy Gibson and Mike Phoenix. Jeromy had a grand slam and Mike had 2 doubles. Jeromy also pitched a good game with a little help from Melinda Sanders who made 2 unassisted force-outs at third. Heather Tredway also made some nice plays at first. B & R Electric's game versus Bruton's was more of a slug fest. The game was called after the 90 minute time limit with B & R Electric on top 17-14. In the 90 minutes, the teams were only able to play 4'2 innings. Everyone on B & R Electric had at least two hits. Four of them were homeruns by Jonathan Froats, Scott Harper, Justin Kowalczyk and Jeffery Ashton. In addition, Jonathan Froats and Michael Bent also hit triples while Kevin Duncan, Scott Harper and Tamara Empringham had doubles. Jeffery Ashton quieted Bruton's bats in the last inning with two strikes and a pop-up to Jason Coish on first. ' B & R Electric ended the season winning 9 of their last 10 games, the last seven in a row. It was a very impressive ending to a season that started with 1 victory and a tie in their first 4 games.
