Police warn public of prize scam The Ontario Provincial Police is warning the public to beware of a misleading advertising circular that promises major prizes, but doesn't deliver them. The circular, orginiating from a company in Vancouver, B.C., was sent to a number of local businesses in the North Bay area, and indicates that the recipient is an automatic winner of a car, a trip or a cash award. Therecipient is asked to call the company to confirm receipt of the certificate, and is then asked to send money to cover the cost of shipping. The "prize" is ap- parently never received. Court date set for 17 yr. old charged with death of man A 17-year old Uxbridge youth will appear in Ajax Pro- vincial Court October on three charges stemming from an acci- dent August 20 that claimed the life of a Toronto man and sent his fiance to hospital with seri- ous injuries.
