This topic, 'Good Foods Fast," which offers good information, good fun (and good eating!) as we learn good cooking and information in preparation tips to make quick nutritious dishes and snacks. We wish a successful year to all our young people who are return- ing to College or University. Owners of the Grand Champion Angus Female, at Toronto C.N.E. were Ross Bailey and Louis Linn. This winner went on to win '""'Grand Champion Angus Female" at the Ex and won the Malcolm Bailey Memorial award. This award was presented by Butch (Jeff) Bailey. Jeff Bailey had the Senior Champion Angus Bull at the Ex.. Of course they won several other prizes but these were the "biggies." On Monday, Jennie and Archie Watson visited friends in Orangeville. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bissette have returned from a motor trip to the East Coast. N - Epsom Utica U.C.W. will be held Sept 12, at the home of Elizabeth Taylor at 8 p.m. Margaret and Shawn Sevier of Newmarket and Earl's sister Ruth of Cannington, were Sunday visitors with Earl and Elizabeth Taylor, while their daughter Ruth of Sundridge, and their son Ray, of Lindsay for the long weekend. Larry and Shirley Olsen visited his parents in B.C. to help them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Heather Ashton and daughter Vickie visited grandma Ruth "Ashton on Tuesday evening. Harry and Lois Elford, Floyd and Grace Evans visited on Mon. evening with Earl and Marie Wilson. Keep in mind (all people are in- vited) Supper at Gerald and Nan- cy Hills home 6:30 Saturday Sept. 9 John Thomas Weir Swain Born in Cartwright Township and educated in Purple Hill, Weir Swain passed away in Port Perry Community Hospital on August 11, 1989 at the age of 92. Third son of Stanford Swain and Catharine Werry, he was married to Meta Read on October 8, 1977. He was predeceased by his first wife Gladys Hemming on January 5, 1962. He was a lifelong member of the United Church of Canada and a veteran of World War I, also an honorary member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 178; The Royal Black Preceptery No. 398 and the Loyal Orange Lodge No. 133. Surviving are his wife, Meta, his sister Ann Sanderson, Toron- to and his brothers Herb Swain, Blackstock & Harold Swain, Tyrone. Funeral services were held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home on August 14, 1989 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dale Davis, Blackstock, officiating. Pallbearers were nephews: Harry Sanderson, Don Swain, Jim Swain, step-grandsons Robert Read, Steven Read, & An: drew Piggott. Floral tributes were received from The Royal Canadian Legion Br. 178 and Haydon Club 21. Memorials were given by The Royal Black Preceptory No. 398, Loyal Orange Lodge No. 133, Blackstock Sr. Citizens, Tyrone Sr. Citizens, Bowmanville Baptist Church and Bowmanville Men's Canadian Club. .
