Squirts Selects perform in tourney play SEES The Port Perry Scugog Youth Soccer Club was proud of the Squirt Select team as they came home with good results from a tournament in Orangeville over the week-end. Their 1st game was a match-up with a team from London. Port dominated this game, keeping the play in their opponent's end. While Port out-shot them, London came in on a strong attack in the last minutes of the 1st half and picked up a goal. The game end- ed 1-0 for London. Their second game of the day was against Ajax. In the past Ajax has proved to be a strong contender, but again this game was dominated by Port Perry. Port continued to out-shoot their opponent, but could not score. Ajax came in on the last well minutes of play and scored a goal with a deflection off the goal post. Port went down to defeat with one goal against them. The final game proved to be Port's pay-off. Port's hard work finally paid off when their cons- tant fore-checking cashed in with 2 goals to win the game. Ben Russell earned the shut-out. However, Port needed 2 wins to advance to the final. Aaron Chambers, Joey Drebit, Lyle Dufoe and Jordan MacKay proved to be extremely efficient on defense while goals scored were by forwards Brad Johnston and Russell Brown with assists going to Scott Cunningham and Jason Whitworth.
