PRE-SCHOOL & SCHOOL AGE DAYCARE (Licenced) The Port Perry Jr. Y offers loving care and a stimulating educational program for your pre-schoolers -- 2 to 5 years. We also offer P.A. day and after-school care for 6 to 10 year olds. We operate from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with full and part-time hours available according to your needs. NURSERY SCHOOL (Licenced) This program offers your child a stimulating and fun place to learn. The focus is on independence, socialization, creativity, skill develop- ment and play. The program runs half days, morning (9:00 to 11:30 a.m.) or afternoon (1:00 to 3:30 p.m.) in either two-day or four-day sessions. For information regarding Daycare or Nursery School, contact the Daycare Director at 985-0708. TINY TOTS (18 to 36 Months) A wonderful social time for you and your pre-schoolers to play and create together. Use of basic materials, music, finger plays and stories will stimulate child's (and parent's) creativity. Dress your pre-schoolers in their Hallowe'en costumes and bring them to our party at the '¥'. We will have crafts, games, treats, and a costume parade. A safe Hallowe'en environment is lots of fun especially for younger members of the family. The program is.co- ordinated by the pre-school staff at the Port Perry 'Y', on Saturday, October 28th from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Fee: $5.00 per child or $8.00 per family. BREAKFAST WITH SANTA (3 to 6 Years) All children enjoy pancakes, syrup and juice, especially when the special guest is Santa! Following breakfast, each child will have the opportunity to sit on Santa's knee and tell him what he or she hopes to find under the tree. See you at breakfast. At the Port Perry 'Y' Centre on Saturday, December 16th from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Fee: $5.00 per child or $8.00 per family. CHRISTMAS CRAFTS (3 to 5 Years) Pre-schoolers enjoy making their own decorations for the house and tree. We will be making lots of Christmas crafts including a mini ginger- bread house, and there will be songs and stories too! KINDERGYM (2% to 4 Years) for A program designed to enhance your child's body awareness, balance, strength and co-ordination. Because a child usually progresses better when having a good time, the interest cultivated by this program will be an asset to future endeavours in the sport. Major emphasis ison a general physical fitness, personality development through social in- teraction and establishing a sound foundation of basic gymnastics. MUSIC and MAKE BELIEVE (2"2 to 5 Years) Through singing, hand actions, movement, poetry and percussion, small imaginations will grow and grow. PRE-BALLET PRIMARY (Ages 4 to 5 Years) Young beginners can have fun while developing basit ballet skills such as posture, balance, and co-ordination. It is active and the steps are easy to learn. PRIMARY JAZZ (Level 1 -- 5 to 7 Years) Level 1 Jazz is an introductory program emphasizing self expression while learning basic jazz movements. No jazz experience is required, although some form of physical co-ordination training would be helpful. At R.H. Cornish Public School on Wednesdays from October 4th to December 6th, from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m. Fee: $30.00 for 10 weeks. MARVELLOUS ME (2'2 to 5 Years) -- NEW! Kids learn about their "marvellous" selves as we discuss the five senses, families, friends, emotions and more! Crafts are related to the "I'm Special" theme with songs and storytime too. GYMNASTICS FOR JUNIORS (3 to 10 Years) -- NEW! A new program for boys and girls taught by experienced gymnasts that will incorporate all the fun of learning new skills along with guidance in areas of development. The emphasis will be on the basics and on having fun! At the Cartwright Public School in Blackstock on Mondays from October 16th to December 18th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Instructor, Sherry Fraser. YOUTH GYMNASTICS (6 to 11 Years) The Participation Gymnastics program is designed to introduce boys and girls to elementary movement principles and gymnastic ex- periences using basic apparatus. Staying involved, being motivated to try, having fun making friends, learning at one's own pace, develop- ing posture, learning to co-operate and feeling good about oneself; are all important considerations to our staff. The program includes a red, white and blue Sports Award progression requiring a minimum of 8 hours of participation at each level. The Durham "Y' follows guidelines of the National YMCA program. At the Port Perry High School on Thursdays from October 5th to December 7th from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Instructor, Sherry Fraser. Fee: $40.00 for 10 weeks. FLOOR HOCKEY (6 to 15 Years) Floor hockey is a non-contact sport played with plastic sticks and pucks on a gym floor. The game is simple and safe, with a few rules, that can be mastered quickly. It emphasizes alertness and movement, rather than strength or height. The purpose is to have fun, develop skill, sportsmanship and experience low key competition. Equipment is supplied, but participants must provide and wear eye protection. Boys and girls are invited to come out and join the fun! It is a Baby-sitting training program which emphasizes practical skills and the knowledge necessary for this position of responsibility. This program's requirements include several projects, kits and a written examination. Awards include a certificate of training. At the Port Perry 'v' Centre on Tuesdays from October 17th to December 5th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Fee: $30.00 for 8 weeks. JAZZ DANCE (8 Years and up) A program using contemporary music and choreography to help develop and improve the participants' sense of rhythm, physical fitness and self-control. At R.H. Cornish Public School on Wednesdays from October 4th to December 6th from 7:15 to 8:00 p.m. Fee: $35.00 (10 weeks). JUNIOR VOLLEYBALL (10 to 12 Years) -- NEW! Volleyball is always great fun! Our program teaches throws and ground techniques, with te ting for advanced belts. Our instructor is highly trained in this ex- citing sport and students are informed of competition for those who are interested. Uniform required. Instructors will advise. At the Immaculate Conception School, Port Perry on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. FULL SESSION: (33 weeks) from October 3rd to June 12th; HALF SESSION: (16 weeks) from October 3rd to February 6th. An interesting program of crafts, stories and songs is planned for the older children.
