PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, September 26, 1989 -- 33 Beautiful September wedding ceremony in Caesarea garden Nestleton-Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Wedding of Interest It was a special day on Satur- day, September 9, when a beautiful wedding was solemniz- ed in the attractive Day garden in Caesarea. Kevin B. Kennedy and Debbie Day were united in Holy Matrimony. The Maid of honour was Donna Day and the Best Man was Wayne Kennedy. The bride was given in marriage by her parents, Douglas and Sandra Day. The officiating clergyman was Rev. Dr. Crawford, minister at the Caesarea Church. After the ceremony a wedding dinner was enjoyed at Emiel's Place Restaurant in Port Perry, and the reception and dance was held at Blackstock Rec. Centre. Our "very best wishes" to this young couple. They will be residing. in their new home in Caesarea. Nestleton Presbyterian Ladies Aid Meet The Ladies Aid met in the Church in September for the first fall meeting, with president Dorothy Lee in the chair. She welcomed all and read an in- teresting poem. The opening hymn for the meeting was, " Jesus Calls Us O'er the Tumult" follow- ed by The Lord's Prayer. The devotional was taken by win- nifred Davison. Script. Luke 16: 1-10 was read and the explanation was from the Every Day Booklet. Minutes and financial state- ment were given. Get well and birthday cards were signed. Several thank you notes were rec'd, re- fruit and plants sent to members and their families. A donation was voted to the Church Board for recent expenses. For the programme Joyce Taylor read a fitting poem, entitl- ed, September. Winnifred Davison read an interesting arti- cle, "Saluting the joy of being barefoot,"" written by Rev. C. Elliott. Mamie Magill served a dainty lunch and sociability was en- joyed. Winnifred Davison extend- ed the appreciation. Meeting clos- ed with Benediction! Birthday Celebration Sam and Mabel Cawker attend- ed the 80th birthday celebration for a good friend Irene Philip of Port Perry, on Saturday after- noon, held in the Anglican Church Parish Hall. This delightful par- ty was 'hosted' by her daughters Anna Spencely and Freda Jordan and families. Irene was the recipient of gifts and lots of cards wishing her well. The Anglican Church Ladies catered for the event...and serv- ed a lovely assortment of food, topped off with birthday cake, tea and coffee. So glad we didn't miss it! Best wishes to Irene for many more! Family Interests Kay Notman of Nestleton, en- joyed having her nephew David Knox and wife Caroline, and their two children, baby Robert and Emma, from Charlestown, Scotland, for a few days. They leave on Tuesday, Sept. 26th, the day before Kay's sister, Betty McDonald arrives from Crossford, Scotland. A fine time of visiting for all! Ralph and Thelma Lyle, Bob- caygeon, called on Sunday after- noon, to congratulate Sam...re- the honour of having the new school named after him. The Lyles were former residents of Port Perry and Prince Albert, many years ago, and Ralph and Sam played hockey together at that time. Good to see them! Neta Fish and Phyllis Pearsell had a good visit with Jim and Audrey Leishman and family of Reaboro, while Phyllis was a guest with Neta. Sons Roger and Michael called for their mother Phyllis on Wed. evening, and she went back home. She had a most enjoyable ten day period with friend Neta. Recent supper guests with Lawrence and Gwen Malcolm, Nestleton, were Bill and Ruth Cowling, View Lake. On Sunday, they toured the Darlington: Nuclear Plant with grand- daughters Heather, Alison and Erin Malcolm. Later they visited Clara Schmid of Bowmanville. Glad to report Neil Malcolm, Blackstock is at home and recovering well from surgery. Nestleton U.C.W. Service On Sunday, September 24, 11:15 a.m., David and Regenia Walker, Avril and Kyle were the greeters at the door, with a good atten- dance. The U.C.W. was in charge of the Service...celebrating 27 years of faithful service. Jean Williams, general president, con- ducted the special service with Gwen Malcolm playing the organ. A ladies quartet, composed of Janice MacKenzie, Kay Notman, Regenia Walker and Kathy Tromans, said, "The Lord is my Shepherd" very nicely. Scripture was read by Barb Weir from 1 Timothy 2:1-7 and Luke 16:1-13. The Message," Our Father's Garden" was led by Arlene Malcolm with several U.C.W members taking part...each describing their flower as representing the varie- ty of personel, comprising God's garder! Hymn '"'In The Garden" was sung. The children's theme was well taken by Carol Mairs and very much enjoyed by the children. Her talk re - flowers fitted in nice- ly with the theme. Offering was received by Ina and Carla Davis. Prayers were taken by Bernice Mairs, Neta Fish and Mabel Cawker. "For the Beauty of the Earth' was the closing hymn, followed by the U.C.W. Benediction and Three Fold Amen. Trust Avelyn Williams of the Nestleton Church, who is in Hospital, will be better soon. Sunday, October 1, World Wide Communion.
