Ao _ i The Port Perry Provincial "A" Tween team, sponsored by Allens Siding Products, started off the year in a big way, by winning their first two exhibition games over the past weekend. Looking like a team determin- ed to win it all as they did 2 years ago, they defeated Ajax by a score of 11-4 on Saturday evening in front of a large home town crowd, and Sunday, went to Pickering and bounced them 8-3. The girls played excellent ringette for so early in the year, and their skating is something to see. Their passing and ring con- trol has greatly improved and they are certain to be a match for any team this year. A big Port Perry welcome goes out to 2 girls from Oshawa PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, October 3, 1989 -- 33 Tweens start season off with two wins who have joined us this year. Megan Marlowe and Tammy Pillman decided to make the move to Port as Oshawa was not having a Provincial team this year, and they have certainly added a great deal of strength to our lines. The balance of this years team consists of Lyndsay Putkewich, Michell Firzpatrick, Shannon Fox, Karen Kett, Jennifer -Morden, Amy Parliament, Tracy Pelow, Kim Poppleton and Tanya Towns. Everyone participated in the goal scoring and assists, and as well, everyone took a turn on defense and did a great job, con- sidering some were playing there for the first time. Six teams with the sponsors being Frank Real Estate, Emmerson Insurance, Swamp Auto, Causeway Esso, I.G.A. and Canadian Tire. This should be a great year for this team as they strive to make the Provincial playoffs and once again earn the title of Provincial Champions as they did in Petite during the 1987-88 season.
