Pineridge boys dump Uxbridge The Port Perry Pineridge Atom B's played their first exhibition fame in Pickering Thursday Oct. With a lot of hard work and determination Port scored the first two goals. Mike Morden took the puck all the way up the ice and made a lovely pass out in front to Kevin Hobbs who quickly fired it in for Ports first goal. Shane Nor- ton took a pass from Matt Phillips and with a hard shot scored Ports second. Both Derek Leeming and Kevin Cochrane had several shots on net but were unsuccessful in scoring. Good defensive moves by Chris Drury, Bobby Cracknell, Trevor Smith and Robert Gracie kept Pickering from setting up their plays. Paul Shrigley played a strong game in net and many trapper saves. Pickering organized themselves in the last half of the third period and scored 4 unanswered goals. A good effort by all in this 4-2 defeat. In their 2nd exhibition game Port came out victorious with a 7-1 win. Derek Leeming led Port's scoring with a hat trick. Con- gratulations Derek! The first goal came after a minute and half of play. Jason Hopkins put it past the far side of the goalie with a pass from Kevin Cochrane. Chris Drury then passed up to Kevin Hobbs who fired the puck past the defense and upstairs in the corner of the net. Hard checking and good passing by Matt Phillips and Kevin Hobbs found the puck on Shane Norton's stick and right in- to the corner. Jason Hopkins slid his 2nd goal past the goalie by a nice pass from Shane Norton. Then Derek Leeming scored 3 unanswered goals for his hat trick. Assists to Kevin Hobbs 2, Jason Hopkins 1, and Matt Phillips 1. A great end to end rush with a lot of deaks and a shot on net only to be robbed was made by Trevor Smith. Paul Shrigley held on to a shut out until 2 minutes left in the game when Ux- bridge scored their only goal. Again victorious 7-1 in Uxbridge Saturday night. Leading the scor- ing for Port again was Derek Leeming with another hat trick! Kevin Hobbs notched a pair and Kevin Cochrane and Shane Nor- ton each picked up 1. Jason Hopkins picked up the only assist of the game. From all the parents we wish Gary Smith, Bill Hopkins and Walter Drury a fun and suc- cessful year. Novice hockey On Saturday Oct. 7, Davids Hairstyling and Re/Max Realty met head on in a hockey game that was a real nail biter. The ac- tion was fast and furious for two and a half periods before the game was put out of reach by two quick goals in the third period by Davids. The two goalies, Scott Sanderson for Davids, and Mathew Caldwell for Re/Max should get a pat on the back for a job well done. Scoring for Davids was Tyler Wootton with 3 goals, Michael MacLennan with 1 goal. Assists went to Eric Wygerde with 1 assist, Scott Monsma with 1 assist and Chris Jones with one assist. Scoring for Re/Max was Jay Pumphrey with 1 goal, Sean Flet- cher with 1 goal, Justin Sheehey had one assist as well as Russ Brown with one. The second game saw a deter- mined Port Perry printing team .defeat Van Camp by a score of 6 to 2. This was Port's second vic- tory in as many starts. Scoring for Port Perry Printing was Kam Cooper from Tom Kee- ble, Glenn McCready from Mike Versage, Mark Dehoney unassisted, Dave Clouthier from Glenn McCready, Tom Keeble had two unassisted goals. Scoring for Van Camp was Jamie Clarke from John Froats, Aaron Chambers from Casey Brown. In goal for Van Camp was Jonathon Chambers and Graham Strickert played in goal for Port Perry Printing. Bantam H.L. Emmerson Insurance 1 Swamp Auto 1 Wednesday the 4th provided some great hockey as seen by a nice turn out of parents. It's good to see them out. Both teams had lots of chances to score but the goal tenders were hot. Both Derek Carter and Mike Tripp stopped breakaways cold. Swamp drew first blood in the first period with Carl Payne pick- ing up a rebound and banging it home. Emmerson got their marker in the second period when Kent Jamieson passed from the right face-off circle to Daryl Alex- ander who was coming down the left wing. He took the pass and scored in one motion, it was a pretty passing play. Frank Real Estate 3 PAUL VAN CAMP Chartered Accountant 204 Casimir St. 985-9725 Port Perry Canadian Tire 2 Saturday Oct. 7th saw these two teams squaring off for the early game. Both teams had numerous opportunities but Frank Real Estate was the only team able to cash in on them during the first two periods. In the first Mark Cosway pick- ed up a loose puck in front of the net and moved in to score. Rob Romano and Adam McTaggart added markers in the second to give Frank Real Estate a 3-0 lead. It was half way through the third period before Canadian Tire got untracked. Adam Johnston got both markers. One from a mix up infront of Frank's goal and secondly picking up a loose puck at centre ice and moving in to score. * INCOME TAX * FINANCIAL PLANNING * SMALL BUSINESS 5 It was quite a debut for first year MoJack defenseman Bob Willetts (No. 23 above get- ting away a good shot on goal) as he clicked for a hat trick and chipped In two assists as Port Perry clubbed the Lakefield Chiefs 11-3 at the Scugog Arena. Veteran sniper John Harman also had a hat trick and two helpers that evening. (see story elsewhere on the sports pages) Pee Wee League Scala 3 - Consumers Gas 1 This was just a super game with lots of good scoring oppor- tunities on both sides. Scala's Kyle Simms and Consumers' Ian Johnston played excellent bet- ween the pipes. Consumers Gas scored the first goal of the match as Neil Hancock shot a beauty and Eric Lucyk earned the assist. Scala and Consumers skated hard for another thirty minutes before Scala put one in as Chris 'Vandermeer scored from Graham Holt and Tony Waldriff. Seconds later Chris Vandermeer fired his second goal, Sean Gawley assisting and Scala led two to one. . Scala's Graham Holt scored on a nice set up by Sean Gawley and Chris Vandermeer to end the game - Scala 3 - Consumers 1. Great game guys only one penalty - keep up the fine hockey. Emiels 5 - Big V3 And yet another record is broken in Pee Wee House League. Never has there been a penalty free game so early in the season. Excellent work fellas. Emiel's opened the scoring as Jeff Jamieson fired one unassisted. Minutes later Emiel's Ryan Morden scored their second with Stewart Bruce picking up the assist. Late in the first Big V scored Greg Thompson scored unassisted. In the second period Stewart Bruce scored for Emiels assisted by Jason Brown and Jeff Jamieson. Late in the second James Patterson scored for Emiels unassisted. Big V came close many times but Jamie Lowe played a stand- up game in net for Emiels. Derek Anderson scored for Big V assisted by Johnathan McCourt and Clay Scott. Mat Brown scored a nice one for Emiels while Brad Strickert earned the assist. Big V's Dylan Ferguson played excellent goal and prevented the score from being higher by some of the fine saves he made.
