a lL CE CT ER CASEI eno. INS PIE TR es Carn Ra. -- 2 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, October 11, 1989 Library in desperate need of more books The Scugog Memorial Li- brary badly needs new books. And Friends of the Li- brary plan to do something about it. Friends of the Library was a group of interested local citizens who did a lot of work when the library was being built and the initial period after it opened. Now, this group is being re-activated, and the goal is to spur public interest to add to the number of books at the li- brary. The library is about 10,000 books short of the num- ber it should have, considering the large population it serves. Friends of the Library hope that local service clubs and organizations will respond in a positive fashion to the need to add more books to the library shelves. Already, one such organi- zation, the Port Perry Rod and Gun Club, has agreed to make a $500 donation for new books, and will turn over a cheque lat- er this month. And if there are persons in- terested in volunteering to work with Friends of the Li- brary, a meeting will be held Oc- tober 24 at the Library, starting at 7:30 PM. 5th, 1989. on our fine O selection of of ¥ : AN H hic ; "9 or # ; RR Larry Mabley and his wife Joan were the guests of hon- our at a dinner last Thursday evening to mark his retirement from the Scugog Hydro Commission.
