The game got off to a quick start and within 5 minutes, Port was up by 3 goals. Port played hard and kept checking, and even though the girls were playing dif- ferent positions, they were winn- ing, 8-2 after the first period. The Woodville team managed to squeeze in a short-handed goal, but Port was much stronger and earned their 14-3 victory. Goals in this game were scored by Janine Hammond with 4; Diana Vanderligt with 3; Alechia Cracknell and Pam Hiltz with 2; rampage and scored four goals. Darren Kinnunen scored from Kyle MecClymont and Justin Wootton, Justin Wootton from Steven Kyte and Jeremy Stevens, Justin Wootton again from Kyle McClymont and Steven Gilbert and Steven Gilbert scored a beau- ty on a nice low shot from the point to end the second period four to one. 14-3 and singles scored by Jennifer Elliot, Janna Senyk and Jennifer Donnelly. Assists went to Alechia Cracknell with 5; Janna Senyk with 4; Jennifer Donnelly with 3; Jenny Lane with 2; and singles to Diana Vanderligt, Jennifer Elliot, Pam Hiltz, Brooke Shanley and Janine Hammond. Bonnie-Jo Norton and Mandy Wakeford played defense, holding back the Woodville's scoring op- portunities, against Jennifer Hammond, who played very well in net. In the third, Scala Bros' Graham Holt picked the corner on a nice pass from Mike Pashley to put them back in contention. Big V 6 Consumers Gas 2 Big V opened the game with three goals in the first period. Greg Thompson scored two, one unassisted and the second Chad Mitchell earned the assist. Then late in the first, Jonathan McCourt scored from Clay Scott and Greg Thompson. In the second period, Jason Vader scored for Consumers Gas picking up the assist were Scott Prechitko and Steve Cochrane. Again in this game it was fast skating up and down the ice that made this game an exciting one to watch. Big V's Johnathan McCourt scored his second assisted by Derek Anderson and Craig Coates. In the third period Quick start for IGA Juniors Ringette season has finally started for all five teams in the Port Perry Ringette Association as every team played a league game either at our home arena or in another centre this weekend. The Port Perry Juniors (14-15 year olds) who this year are spon- sored by Port Perry 1.G.A. started off their season with two home games. In their league openér they hosted a team from Ennismore on Sat. Oct. 21, and were victorious, defeating them by a score of 13-3. The girls won this game with a team effort as almost everyone contributed in the scoring. Although Jennifer Hunter did not pick up any points during this game her defensive play along with the other girls that played that position certainly made it easy for goaltender Bristol Sleep who made the stops when called upon. Scoring in this game were Danielle Lally 6 assist, 1 goal, Valerie Payne 3 assists, 2 goals; Kendra McCrae 2 assists, 1 goal; Joanne Zaal 2 assists, 1 goal; Den- na Lovering 2 assists, 6 goals; Mandy Porter 1 goal and Laurie Thompson 1 goal (her first goal in her first ever ringette game). On Sunday the 1.G.A. Juniors hosted Warkworth and again were victorious defeating them by a score of 7-4. Again the defence played a superb game as they stopped many opportunities to score by the opposition. ATTENTION! Legionaires find scoring touch again After a good start to the season, the Port Pee Wee A's went on an extended slide, then snapped out of it in a big way in Lindsay on Saturday night. Last Friday, Port absorbed their first loss of the season, fall- ing to Port Hope 7-2. Jay Tredway did a nice checking job to feed Jay King for a point shot, and then hustled to be in position to cash the rebound, to cut the lead to 2-1, then Port Hope pulled away. Neil Mueller scored a late goal, assisted by Kenton LeFort and Billy Zaparanuik to complete the scoring. Tuesday night in Cobourg, a short staffed Port team produced a reasonable effort and were rewarded when Sean Ellis scored unassisted on the power play ear- ly in the third period to tie the game at one. Unfortunately, Cobourg promptly took the lead and then clinched it with two late goals for a 4-1 win. Friday night, the Legionaires were back home against a big, smooth Bowmanville team. Again, a respectable effort had Port close when Jay Tredway pot- ted a goal on the power play, on assists from Craig Laird and Chad Kearns to cut a 2-0 Bowman- ville lead in half. From that point, the game threatened to turn ug- ly; and with the officials losing control, Bowmanville racked up 3 more power play goals for a 5-1 final. Saturday in Lindsay, the Legionaires turned things around with a big 12-2 win. Jay Tredway continued his strong play to lead the offensive barrage scoring 3 goals and adding 3 assists. The rest of the scoring was con- tributed by: Sean - 1 goal, 4 assists; Chad 2 goals, 1 assist, Kenton and Craig - each 1 goal and 2 goals, Joe Broadworth 3 assists, Neil 2 goals, Dave Bourgeois 1 goal & 1 assist, Scott Heasman 1 goal, Billy 1 assist. Scott, Jeremy Norton, Jay King and Matt Morris all turned in solid performances along the blue line, breaking up Lindsay rushes and making good breakout passes. Although the score wasn't close, both Mike Pashley and Steve Gilbert were tested at times ~and supplied solid goaltending.
