Celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism was a part of the Church service on Sunday when Ashley Megan, daughter of Larry and Bonnie Postill; Jesse James son of Carl and Lynette Durward; Jenna Lynne Elizabeth, daughter of Brian and Debbie Beattie; Ashley Lynn daughter of Ralph and Judith Kronister were Christened. Congratulations to Mr. George Rahm who celebrated his 90th bir- thday, on Sunday with his family. All children 10 yrs old and younger are invited to join in the fun at Greenbank Hall on Satur- day October 28th at 9:50 a.m. un- til noon, this is the "seventh an- nual Hallowe'en costume party" they will be featuring magic, treat, games and prizes, and movies. Greenbank school was lucky enough to have sent 39 represen- tatives to the Durham Central Cross Country Finals on Oct. 12 at Dagmar Ski Resort. In 8 year old boys, Bill Lee plac- ed 1st; 9 year old's Jonathon Reed 4th place; 10 year old boys Micheal Phoenix 6th place; 11 year old boys Carl Phoenix 1st place. 8 year old boys team 2nd place; and 10 year old boys team 2nd place. Bill Lee and Carl Phoenix went on to the All Durham Champion- ship's placed 6th and 2nd respectively. The Provincial Championship for Cross Country were held in Burlington Ont. on Saturday Oct. 21 when Carl Phoenix placed 4th in the Atom Division and Bill Lee placed 11th in the Tikes Div. Con- gratulations boys and good luck at the Canadian Championship on Nov. 5. Jim and Judy Gibson holiday- ing with her parents in Chelsea Nova Scotia recently. Family and friends gathered in Greenbank Church on Saturday evening to congratulate Armour and Enid Martin (parents of Joanne Gross) on the occassion of their Golden Wedding Anniver- sary, after enjoying a delicious roast beef dinner. Ray Doble of Pickering, Master of Ceremonies whose wit and wisdom of the Mar- tins, recalled many memories through the years and a very hap- py evening was enjoyed with Scugog Island news by Mrs. Earl Reader On Sunday the Golden Slippers shared their talents with the Col- umbus Church congregation. The next "Head" U.C.W. will meet at the home of Mrs. Clara - Dowson on Wednesday Nov. 1. Last Tuesday evening Beth and Allen Martyn hosted a group at their home to have a continuous showing and description of their recent summer travels through Utah and other Western States. For some who had travelled in a few of the areas it revived plea- sant memories of the beauty of nature. For others it was a delightful travelogue to places they may never be able to visit. All were grateful to the Martyns for sharing their expense, time and pleasure. In this month of Thanksgiving it reminded all for the gift of sight and thoughtfulness of others. Believe it or not Reta Reader had 2 boy friends for this above occasion coming and going. Just a bare note of gossip not usually shared. Art and Pearl Couves were guests at the wedding of their grandson Chris Reesor and Reva Alsen, held in St. Andrews Church Scarborough, also the reception and dance held in the church hall on Saturday. Dr. and Mrs. Harry Hall of Toronto, also Glennys Simmons, Marilyn Snoddon and Mona Mustard, visited recently with Fred and Iva Phoenix. The mens and ladies Basketball and Volleyball will be starting this Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Green- bank school, you can still register on Thursday night. : The Greenbank Guides and Brownies journeyed to Camp Adelaide, just outside Haliburton, this past weekend. The Hallowe'en Theme carried throughout the weekend with songs, hikes, crafts, a "Twin Parade' and a super turkey din- ner prepared by our fantastic cooks, whose help and culinary delight were appreciated by all. Although the weather was fairly wet, it certainly didn't dampen our spirits. The Happy Campers returned Sunday afternoon a lit- tle tired but none the worse for wear. Thanks to all those who participated in this fun weekend - the smiles and enthusiasm shown by our girls, was just reward. Six members of the George McMillan family enjoyed a get- together and delicious dinner at the home of Robt. and Phyllis McMillan in Oshawa last Thurs- day. Those present were Mabel Stevens, Calgary, Bessie Acton, Uxbridge, Wallace and Mildred McMillan, Hawkestone, Nora and George Bishop, Toronto and Ar- mour and Rachel McMillan. The day was spent reminiscing, pic- ture taking and talking about the grandchildren. Mrs. Ruby Beare and Muriel Gibson visited with Zelda and Earl Geronimo and girls on Sunday.
