Stouffville opened the scoring in the first, then early in the second Billy Zaparanuik took an ex- cellent cross-ice pass from Dave Bourgeois and buried it over the shoulder to tie the game 1-1. Jay King had started the play in his own end and drew the second assists. From there the Clippers took control and led 5-1 with just over three minutes to play. At that point, Port got some life, as Scott Heasman's shot from the . blueline found the back of the net for an unassisted marker. 25 seconds later Chad Kearns clos- ed the gap to 5-3, firing one in the lower corner off a nice pass from Dave. The visitors came right back with another goal to close out a 6-3 final. Saturday afternoon, in Bowmanville, the home team jumped out to a 1-0 lead despite a strong effort by the Legionaires. Then, late in the first Jay Tred- way deflected Scott's point shot to tie the score. This goal was the result of a good power play involv- ing Chad, Sean Ellis and Craig Laird, who also got an asssist. The Port effort continued, but late in the second, the Toros pot- ted 2 in 15 seconds for a 3-1 lead. Early in the third, another power play brought Port close as . Jeremy Norton moved into the slot to fire Chad's pass by the goalie. Joe Broadworth also assisted on the goal. Life being what it is, the Toros then scored 4 goals in the next 3:15 for a 7-2 final. Peter Schoe (7) scored the last three for a game total of four. Best wishes for a quick recovery go to Neil Mueller, who missed both games with a broken foot. Volleyball is a tough game! Also thanks to Jeremy Geer for filling in Saturday on short notice. The Legionaires will attempt to get back in the winning way when they host Lindsay at 9:15 Friday. Auctioneers get their revenge After taking a close game defeat at the hands of Lindsay last Sunday, the Pearce Auctioneers gained revenge Friday evening by trouncing their rivals 6-2 in front of a home crowd in Port Perry. Port opened the scoring at 4:37 of the first on a goal by Scott Jeffrey from Troy Campbell and Dan Lyons. Troy continued the Port attack in the second frame with 2 more assisted by line mates Lyons, Jeffrey and key defenceman Casey Vanschagen. Lindsay gave up another as Port continued their barrage around the net on a deflection by Ian Parliament assisted by Adam Hobbs. Ian popped another in the corner assisted again by Adam Hobbs and centre man Brad Johnston. Lindsay managed two counts, one in the second, and final frame before Adam Jones rounded out the scoring for Port on a beauty assisted by Jonathan Reed and Blayne Kinnunen. Port continued in the win col- Atom HL Tripp Realty 7 Lake Scugog Lumber 6 This was a fast paced exciting game as the "Never Say Die" Scugog Lumber team continually fought back.all game to nearly tie it up. Kristan Wootton was the big shooter on this day as he scored 5 times. Aron Levy also scored for Scugog as well as picking up an assist. Chris Jamieson also counted an assist. The scoring for Tripp was more spread out with Matt McClelland and Colin Outram each scoring twice and Dwayne Rombough, Jamie Trick and Jay Fletcher all scoring once. John Sax pitched in with 2 assists for Tripp. Credit should be given to the Scugog Lumber team for the way umn by blasting Uxbridge 6 to zip Saturday evening on visitors ice. Scoring opened with Adam Jones from Jonathan Reed, and Casey Vanschagen from Brad Johnston. Seth Gray showed his stuff on a big rush and picture perfect goal on a short handed Port Perry at- tack. Adam Hobbs poked in another on a slick pass from Brad Johnston for another short hand- ed effort. Adam Jones continued his strong play by netting a nice pass from Jonathan Reed for Tal- ly no. 5. Blayne Kinnunen tucked in the final marker from Jones to round out a convincing Port Perry win. Special mention to the awesome Port Perry defence of Dillon Weber, Justin Kowalczyk, Ryan Moynes and goalie Shane Savage, who held the opposition vertually scoreless despite a penalty shot attempt in the Uxbridge game. Next outing, November 3, 7:00 on Port Perry ice. hockey they fought back as they only had 1 spare player sitting on the bench. Gord Lewis 3 Whitby Auto Wreckers 2 This game was a well played defensive game with both teams giving everything they had. Ryan Diceman, Gavin Baxter and Jay Strickert all scored once for Gord Lewis, while Jeff Gunn replied twice for Whitby with assists going to Nick Kutlik and Jason Heyworth. Gord Lewis scored once in the second to regain their 2 goal lead, but Whitby kept pressing and with 4 minutes left, again cut the lead to 1 goal. As hard as they tried, Whitby couldn't capitalize on any of their remaining chances to tie the game. Whos counting Never let the score of a game be an indication of how well played the game really was. This was the case on Sunday, October 29, when the Port Perry Novice Ringette team hosted the Oshawa 1 squad. Although the score was 8-2 in favour of Oshawa our girls played excellent ringette and even though they lost, they never gave up trying. Laura Hookers' goal assisted by Janine Hammond opened the scoring early in the game. The pace was fast and the Oshawa team kept our goaltender, Jen- nifer Hammond, on her toes con- stantly. She made many more saves than goals. Keep it up Jennifer! | Our second goal was scored late in the second half by a determin- ed Pam Hiltz assisted by an equally determined Diane Vanderlight. Nice work girls! The strong defensive work of Bonnie Jo Norton, Jenny Lane, and Janna Senyk helped keep Oshawa's scoring chance down during the second half. Alechia Cracknell, Brooke Shanley, Amanda Wakeford and Jennifer Donnelly never gave up trying to get one past their goaltender, Christie Pillman, and the tough Oshawa defense. To Melissa Hooker, maybe next time, but keep on trying, it's bound to happen. As spectators, we saw a fast paced exciting game with many determined girls still trying to get the ring, right to the end. The coaching staffs from both teams should be proud of a no penalty game. That's good, clean ringette.
