EE ---- rT Durham Region, at the re- quest of Newcastle Council, has tabled the Darlington Nuclear Emergency Plan (Draft 2) for two weeks. No indication was given in Scugog seeks money Scugog Township's road su- perintendent asked Manvers council Monday morning in the Scugog council chambers for co- operation in reconstructing a portion of the Scugog-Manvers boundary line road. Mr. MacDonald suggested the two townships enter into an agreement to reconstruct and hard surface approximately two and a half miles of the road, between Scugog's 2nd and fourth concessions. He went on to explain that the section of road has already been "costed out" by the MTO, and was eligible to be subsi- dized for construction. He esti- mated the cost for the work would be about $205,000. It appeared that most mem- bers of both councils agreed that the work needed to be done, but Manvers councillor Harvey Malcolm suggested that the Cadmus road should ber 'reconstructed first. "It's much more heavily used and is very rough", he said. Yes it is bumpy", Mr. Mac- Donald agreed. Mr. Malcolm asked that Scu- put their facts and figures own in a formal request and Manvers would give it their - consideration. Reeve Pickering told that they would come up with a P , even if it meant hav- ing to do the work in stages if they can't afford to do it in one year. Mayor Howard Hall thanked the Manvers council for attend- ing their meeting and said it was great they could work to- gether on projects of mutual in- terest. Check points will be set up to ensure farmers do not export exposed food or milk. Livestock should be kept indoors and fed stored feed and covered water. Exposed livestock should not be slaughtered. The secondary zone includes all other municipalities in Dur- ham Region, Metropolitan To- ronto, York Region and the Counties of Victoria, Northum- berland and Peterborough. The Darlington Nuclear Nuclear plan on hold Emergency Plan will come be- fore council again on Wednes- day, November 29. Councillors will vote on ap- proving the plan in principle, but conditional on the following terms: --Durham Region, including the individual municipalities, and Ontario Hydro come to an agreement on marine notifica- tion; --and the provincial govern- ment review the primary zone limits and see if it should in- clude the City of Oshawa and Town of Whitby (currently only parts of the Town of Newcastle are included in the primary zone); If these items are not re- solved by the end of 1990, Dur- ham will review its support of the Darlington Nuclear Emer- gency Plan, and possibly with- draw all its financial and staff support. yA Cease A i RR SC ] » i ~ 4 3 i Hwy. 7 T pu BROOKLIN f aT A u 5 i 401 I | WHITBY i Country Heirloom Country Pine & Oak Furniture Antique & Reproduction Antique Smalls & Wooden Animals Box 356, Brooklin, Ont. 8 Roebuck St., Brooklin, Ont.
