30 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 21, 1989 Pee Wee House League Action FRIDAY NOV. 17/89 P.A. DAY Larocque 5 Scala 4 This was another excellent Pee Wee House League game where great goaltending was witnessed by all who watched. Kyle McClymont in goal for Larocque, Kyle Simms for Scala. Sean Gawley started it off for Scala as Drew Royale and Gavin Carnegie assisted. Justin Wootton evened the score for Larocque while Darren Kinnunen picked up the assist. Seconds later, Laroc- que's Justin Wootton scored his second unassisted. Larocque tallied for two more as Steven Gilbert scored one unassisted, and Jeff Fletcher fired one, Ryan Larmer setting up the play. Late in the second period, Scala's Sean Gawley scored his second, Graham Holt and Sean Sauter earning the assists. Early in the third, Drew Royale, working real hard, scored one from Mark Dunn and Tony Waldriff, Larocque fired right back as Justin Wootton scored his Bantam Canadian Tire 6 Frank Real Estate 0 On Wednesday night Canadian Tire overpowered a short handed Frank squad with the help of Derek Carter who played a strong game in net for Canadian Tire. Both Craig Leask and Chris Cooper had strong nights as they each picked up a hat trick. Todd Taylor worked a strong game as he was the playmaker picking up assists on four goals. Causeway Esso 7 Swamp Auto 6 Saturday morning we saw a good clean hockey game with lots of end to end rushes. Swamp struck early in the first and built up a 6 to 2 lead by the midway point of the second period. Causeway began their comeback with six minutes remaining in the second period. Causeway tied the game at the 2:34 mark of the third _ period and won the game with 38 hat trick and Darren Kinnunen and Jeff Fletcher picking up the assists. Scala's Sean Gawley scored his hat trick for the contest to end the scoring, Alan Calder and Graham Holt assisting. Big v3 Consumers Gas 2 Clay Scott opened the scoring for Big V as Greg Thompson set up the play. Consumers Gas shot right back as Eric Lucyk scored unassisted. Late in the first Consumers Gas, Matt Mantel scored, Richie Tripp earning the assist. Big V's John Hall had the only goal unassisted in the second period to tie the game. In the dying minutes of the third, Big V's Clay Scott, scored his second of the match to end the scoring. SAT. NOV. 18/89 Scala 3 Big v3 Saturday morning the Pee Wee House League displayed more of their fine talent. HL news seconds remaining in the game. Heath Hudson had a big night for Causeway scoring 4 goals with singles going to Cliff LeFort, Troy Hope and Louis Whitfield. Prov- ing that hustle means more than size Chris Jellicoe also had a big game finding the mark 4 times with singles going to Carl Payne and Kevin Brown. Canadian Tire 11 L.G.A. 2 On Saturday evening a strong Canadian Tire squad carried the play to a short handed I.G.A. team. Credit should be given to L.G.A. for not giving in as they never quit. Having a big night for Canadian Tire was Adam Johnston and Chris Cooper with 4 goals and Todd Taylor with 3. Craig Leask worked hard setting up 6 of the goals. In the first period each team scored three times, Emiels' were Jon Jamieson from Andrew Garnett and Matt Brown, Kirk Swain from Ryan Morden and Robbie Martyn, and Jon Jamieson his second from Stewart Bruce. Scoring for Larocque were Ryan Larmer and Scott Swain, and Jeff Fletcher from Jeremy Stevens and Steven MacDonald. Emiels broke the tie as Matt Brown scored from Jon Jamieson and Andrew Garnett. Then Jeff Jamieson scored another one for Emiels, Ryan Duff and Gord Bentley assisting. Larocque fired back for two to tie the game, Steven Kyte from David Kemp and Ryan Larmer, Steven Gilbert from Justin Woot- ton and Darren Kinnunen. There, another fine Pee Wee House League is wrapped up for another week. Legionaires earn a split The Port Perry Legion Pee Wee A's split a pair of weekend league games; blasting Uxbridge 10-1 at home before bowing 6-3 in Bowmanville. Friday-night, Port lacked some of the physical intensity that they have been demonstrating the last few weeks but were sharp mental- ly, as the passing game was crisp. Sean Ellis started things early, blasting Craig Laird's passout in . the bottom corner in the first minute. Less than a minute later, Chad Kearns combined with Joe Broadworth and Jay Tredway to score the eventual winner. Scott Heasman extended the lead with a pair of point shot goals in 58 seconds. After Uxbridge scored their only goal on the power play, Dave Bourgeois closed out the first period, deflecting a good goal-mouth pass from Joe. In the last two periods, Sean and Chad each picked up their se- cond goals, Kenton LeFort scored a pair, and Jay T. added a single as Port coasted to a 10-1 win. Craig notched 4 assists, Sean had 3, Jay T., Joe, and Matt Morris 2 each, while Kenton and Jeremy Norton each added 1. Saturday afternoon in Bowman- ville, a decent effort allowed Port to enter the second period scoreless. Port turned things up a notch after the break, and after just 11 seconds Chad fired a goal from the deep slot on set-ups from Joe and Jeremy. This was apparently the first goal given up by the toros in 14 periods of hockey. Just over a minute later, Joe sent Chad in again and followed up in time to blast a re- bound past the fallen goaltender. Novice P.P.P.2 Van Camp Const. 1 The first game of the day saw Van Camp Construction take on Port Perry Printing. In this game the first 2 periods were scoreless. Another power play goal restored the lead again for Bowmanville and they regrouped to prevent any further scoring.
