They also call- ed on Weirsmas and report they are all fine, but busy packing for a trip home to Holland. Many from the community visited the Royal Winter Fair last week. Wendy Evans and Michael Wilson were part of the Durham West group 4-Hers participating in the Scotia Bank Hays Classic last weekend. Congratulations to the ladies who supplied the bountiful ham and scalloped potato supper at Memory Hall on Friday night. I think the bazaar was quite suc- cessful also. December 1 the Social Club will visit Cullen Gardens to see the lights and then back to Epsom Church for a social time. I hope someone will phone me with the details - (the time, place to meet, lunch & etc.) before next Sunday. This will be the meeting for Dec. and Nov. Congratulations to Erma Wat- son on her 80th birthday from Ep- som friends. Spaghetti supper December 3 Communion was observed at the church service on Sunday. It was nice to see Doris Hill and Barbara Ward out - we have miss- ed you both. On November 5th the All Canada Cross Country Championships were held at Centennial Park, Etobicoke. Bill Lee was running for the Durham XL team placed 13th in the Mites Division which won that team 2nd place for the 8 year old boys. Way to go Bill. Ashburn and Area News by Florence Ashton Brooklin Horticultural Society will hold its Christmas Show and annual meeting on Wednesday 'evening of this week at 7 p.m. at Brooklin United Church. Dessert and coffee will be served. Results of the euchre party last Thursday evening are as follows: ladies first prize won by Muriel Whitbread, second to Laurrena Bright and low to Muriel Fisher. Men's first prize to Arthur Budd, second prize to Bruce Bright and low to Leo Richard. Lone hands won by Jean Medland. Lucky door prize winner was Elmer Johnson. 50/50 draw won by Ver- na Draper. 12 tables of euchre were played. Bring your friends and come to the next euchre on Thursday, November 30. Grant Parrott underwent exten- sive surgery on Sunday at Toron- to General Hospital. We hope that in a few days he will be making favourable progress. McEntyre's sermon last Sunday was titled "Rooted in What Kind of Faith" taking as his text St. Mark 8, verse 36. Scrip- tures were read by Mary Briscoe and Ruth Oliver. The choir sang "He the Pearly Gates Will Open." Next Sunday we celebrate Holy Communion. Come and join us at Burns each Sunday morning for worship at 11:15 a.m.. Utica and Area News by Vera Brown The ham supper held last Fri- day evening in Utica Hall was a great success. The food was delicious, and most would agree with that statement. Approx. $770.00 was raised to further the work of the church. The U.C.W. bazaar and bake sale profited by approx. $260.00. These projects could not have been possible without a lot of work by many people.
