The cost to put this emergen- cy service into place will be $1.7 million, and will cost Durham taxpayers about $945,000 in annual operating costs. The 911 system is now widely in use across North America for police, fire, and ambulance emergency calls. This system, once in place, will replace over 30 emergency Two local girls hurt in head-on collision A 16 year old Township girl had to be rushed to Sick Chil- drens Hospital in Toronto fol- lowing a head on collision last Thursday morning on the Scu- gog Island Road. Laura Leeder suffered head injuries in the crash and her condition has been given as stable. Regional Police say she was a passenger in a southbound car driven by Sherri Ballingall, 17, of RR 3, Port Perry. Her car collided with a northbound vehicle driven by #, icy conditions on Scugog Island are listed as the main cause of a accident involving a car and a half ton truck. Sherri Ballingal, 17, and her passenger, Laura Leeder, 16, both suf- numbers now used across Dur- ham, when a caller is trying to contact an emergency service. A police spokesman said Monday morning that no charg- es have been laid as the icy road conditions were the main factor in this head on crash.
