The boys start at an early age as Cubs & Beavers, but when they need advanced experience and training it seems difficult to get interested leaders. If you would like to understand and learn more about the ac- tivities you are welcome to attend Quiz and judging part of 4-H contest A new 4-H Inter-County Dairy Judging Competition is being organized by the Dairy Breed Associations, Artificial Insemina- tion Units, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, and the 4-H Leaders' Association. This com- petition is to be held at the Univer- sity of Guelph on Wednesday, August 8th and Thursday, August 9, 1990. . The objectives of the competi- tion are: 1. To develop young people and assist them in making decisions. 2. To teach 4-H members in evaluating dairy cattle. 3. To assist 4-H members in ex- pressing themselves. 4. To expose youth to Agriculture Colleges in Ontario. 5. To give competition beyond the local level. 6. To develop judges for the future. Two member teams are being invited to participate from each country in Ontario. Contestants will be invited to judge nine classes of dairy cattle and to give oral reasons on six of the classes. There will also be a quiz on general knowledge of judging and show ring procedures. The com- petition will begin in Guelph in 1990, and be moved to other Agricultural Colleges across the province in the future. Winners will be eligible to compete in selected American Judging Competitions. Senior Citizen Club welcomes Senior's President Bill Harper welcomed the members and O'Canada was sung. A minute silence was taken in memory of Dorothy Denton who passed away at the nursing home. Dorothy was a Charter Member and sympathy is extended to her daughter Kay McBride. Mr. and Mrs. Halliday were welcomed into the club as new members. Mary Cannon read the minutes from the last meeting and Norm Caswell gave the Treasurer's Report. Both were accepted as read. Harold Cornish will be Treasurer while Norm takes a holiday in the south. Clara War- ren gave the euchre report and also the sick report. The flu bug is around so hope everyone will soon be better. Jim Martin spoke on travel and hopes to have a trip to Las Vegas in March, also there may be a trip members to a dinner theater. Keep in touch if you are interested as Jim needs to have at least 30 people before he can make plans for these trips. Line Dancing on Tuesday mor- ning is enjoyed by the members and a new class will be beginning next month. Come out and have some fun. Also, more people are needed to play shuffleboard on Tuesday afternoon. The hall is open until 4:00 p.m. Archie welcomed 3 new members for the choir but would like more to come and join them. Choir practice is every Wednes- day at 12:30 p.m. These people enjoy singing and entertaining at various functions throughout the year. The winners for the draw were Carrie Hough, 'Lola McEachern, Henry Sisson, Marguerite Lewis and Murray Geer. The meeting closed with prayer and tea was served.
