Christian Women's Club features environment The March Dessert Evening of the Port Perry Area Christian Women's Club is scheduled for Thursday March 1 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge on Queen Street. The Christian Women's Club is inter-church and non-sectarian with 2200 groups across Canada, the U.S.A. and around the world. There is a special feature of cur- rent interest, a musical presenta- tion and an out-of-town guest speaker each montui, yet there are no membership fees or dues. Seeks zoning to permit truck An application for a zoning change to allow a Blackstock man to park his gravel truck on his property met with support and opposition from his neigh- bours. Joe Gauley, who operates one gravel truck from his home at 65 Scugog Street in Black- stock has applied for a zoning change. At a public meeting Mon- day evening in the council chambers, his neighbours to the south say they have absolutely no objection, while his neigh- bour to the north is strongly op- posed. Another neighbour, who lives nearby said she has no ob- jection so long as the truck was not leaving the yard before 7:00 in the mornings. Mr. Gauley said if the zon- ingis approved, he has nointen- tion of expanding the number of trucks. He has been parking his truck in the yard since the fall of 1988. The Township has re- ceived a complaint. He told council that the price of land in Scugog makes it impossible. for him to re-locate elsewhere. And he noted that several other businesses on Scugog Street in Blackstock generate heavy truck traffic, so one more truck is not going to alter the character of the area.
