Juniors win opener On Wed. Feb. 21, the Port Perry I.G.A. Juniors travelled to Sunderland to begin their quest to become the league champions. Although finishing fifth in the league the coaching staff feel that Port Perry has a good chance at winning. We have defeated and lost to each team we have to play except Woodville who has defeated everyone in our league. Our last game against Woodville was early in the season and our young ladies have certainly im- proved since then. In Sunderland, Port Perry I.G.A. took control of the game right from the opening whistle as we scored at the 45 second mark and never relinquished the lead. Sunderland did make the game a little closer than expected due to penalty trouble we ran into but our penalty killers did a good job. Scoring for us in this game were JoAnn Zall 2 assists, Jennifer Hunter 2 assists, Jennifer King 2 assists, 2 goals, Danielle Lally 1 assist, Kendra McCrae 1 assist, Kristin Armstrong 1 assist, 1 goal, Val Payne 1 assist, 2 goals, and Denna Lovering 1 assist, 4 goals. Our quest continues on Mar. 3 at 5:30 p.m. in Port Perry when we will play Woodville. The Port Perry [.G.A. Juniors would like to congratulate the Allen's Siding Products Tween Team on their win this past weekend to advance them to the Provincial 'A' Cham- pionships and we wish them good luck.
