Cornish on Monday February 26. In this one, the Shooting Stars held on to score a narrow 6-5 victory over the Red Rockets. This game also featured some outstanding goaltending by Kevin Gray of the Shooting Stars. At the end of the first period the Stars held a 3 to 1 lead, thanks to 2 goals from Ryan Williamson and a single goal from David Vershuuren. Kris Holland scored the lone goal for the Rockets this period. David Vershuuren scored all three goals for the Stars in the se- cond period to extend their lead to 6 to 2. Mark Suppelsa scored the rockets lone goal this period. The Red Rockets came storming back in the third period and outscored the Stars 3 to 0 but still came out on the short end of a 6 to 5 score. John Hall scored twice while Kris Holland scored once for the Rockets. Andrew Jacobsen had a great third period in net for the Red Rockets. Steve Doan, Steven Elliott and Kevin Pike all had strong games for the winning Shooting Star squad. Pee Wees tune up for Goderich The Port Perry Legion Pee Wee A's continue to cruise along as they fine tune for their last major performance of the season. On Friday they will travel to Goderich to compete in the tradi- tional Pee Wee tournament hosted by that Lake Huron town. Monday night, at the Harmon Park Arena, the Legionaires dominated a big, chippy Oshawa Canadians Major team and came home with a 3-1 win. Sean Ellis had a big night offen- sively for Port, collecting one goal and setting up the other two. With 47 seconds remaining in the first period, Sean broke down the wing and fed a nice pass to Kenton LeFort who was streaking up the middle. Kenton moved in and picked a low corner perfectly to give Port a 1-0 lead, a powerplay goal. The game was of the "dif- ferent" variety, as Oshawa con- tinued to try to establish physical VALMED HEALTH SERVICES INC. Foot Care Services in Your Home (J (416) 433-1494 domination but Port refused to allow that. The Legionaires ap- peared to comfortable control the play but not add to the score. Halfway through the second Sean picked up his second assist, mak- ing an alert soft touch from the corner to Jay King who broke in from the point. Jay took the pass, walked in, and faked the goalie to his knees before slipping the puck by him for a 2-0 edge. The Canadians got some life on a power play marker of their own, but just before the middle of the third Sean finished off a play from Dave Bourgeois to seal the Port victory. Heading into their season finale in Goderich, the team should be proud of a season that was much more than respectable, in spite of adversity. The Legionaires cur- rently sport a 29-22-4 record even though they were without Neil Mueller, Craig Laird, Chad [ CENTRAL Jr. 'C' PLAYOFFS - Championship Series - Port Perry MoJacks Bowmanville Eagles VS GAME TWO: GAME FOUR; Eagles at Port Perry WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7th at 8:00 PM Eagles at Port Perry SATURDAY, MARCH 10th at 8:00 PM IN BOWMANVILLE: Kearns, or Jay Tredway for a total of 47 games.
