All systems are go, and may all the kids have "fun!" on this final stretch run. Van Camp 7 Davids 4 Davids Hairstyling opened the scoring at the 4:28 mark of the first period on a goal by Tyler Wootton, assisted by Scott Sanderson. There wasn't anymore scoring in the first period due to some nice goalten- ding at both ends of the rink. At the 6:11 mark of the second period, Van Camp Construction, tied the score at one on a neat goal by Ashleigh Murphy assisted by Jonathon Froats and Greg Bruton. At 4:36, Ashleigh Murphy tucked another one away from Greg Bruton and Jonathon Froats. With 53 seconds left in the game, Geg Bruton scored from Jamie Clarke. With just 18 seconds left in the second period, Van Camp scored again on a goal by Greg Bruton assisted by Chad Lance. After two periods of play the scoreboard read Van Camp 4 - Davids 1. At 11:19 of the third period, Jonathon Froats scored assisted by Shane Savage. One minute later Greg Bruton scored his third goal completing his "hat trick" Port Perry Legionaires skate to an 8-1 win The Port Perry Legion Branch 419 Pee Wee A's hosted Whitby on Thursday night. The Legionaires showed little effect from their long layoff; skating to an 8-1 win. Jeremy Norton started Port off on the right foot, scoring a pair of goals in the first six minutes of the game. Craig Laird and Sean Ellis set up the first one. Chad Kearns and Joe Broadworth the second. Jeremy added 3 assists later in the game for a 5 point night. Sean potted the next one from Craig and Neil Mueller, then Joe scored from Chad and Jeremy to finish the first period at 4-0. Not long after Steve Gilbert had made a super stop on a breakaway to preserve the goose- egg, Whitby finally got one by him on a power play, for the only goal of the second period. Port iced it with another 4 goal outburst in the third. Sean scored his second from Jay King and Jeremy, then 1:02 later Chad con- verted Dave Bourgeios' pass. The play of the game was Port's 7th goal as Scott Heasman went end- to-end for an unassisted tally with Port 2 men short. Neil closed the scoring, potting a nice goal from Joe and Jeremy. Mike Pashley guarded the cage in the second half, and although Port dominated the game, both goalies had some difficult chances and came up big when called on. assisted by Aaron Chambers. At this point the score was Van Camp 6 - Davids 1. At 7:22 of the third period Davids scored on a goal by Scott Sanderson assisted by Tyler Wootton. At 5:15, Davids scored on a goal by Eric Wygerde assisted by Scott Sanderson and Jason Crosier. At 3:13 of the third, Davids closed the gap to 6-4 for Van Camp on a goal by Scott Sanderson assisted by Ryan McQuade and Tommy Baker. Both goalies played well. In goal for Van Camp was Jonathon Chambers and Chris Orr was in goal for Davids. Once again, both games were "well refereed." This is due to the extensive training and leadership given by Ivan Geer to his junior staff. Thank you referees and Ivan. Pineridge Atoms win 4-2 Pineridge Atom B's have begun a mini series between Uxbridge, Orono and Cobourg. Their first game was Tuesday February 27 in Orono where they were vic- torious 4-2. The only goal in the first period came after a save by Jamie Trick who gave the puck to Shane Norton. Shane made a great deke on the goalie to put Port ahead 1-0. Orono tied it up early in the se- cond, but then Port came back with 3 goals. Jason Hopkins not- ched two goals, assisted both times by Derek Leeming. Mike Morden tipped one in on a hard shot by Justin Halligan. Matt Phillips and Chris Drury each picking up one assist. Orono scored the only goal of the third period. Off to Uxbridge for tournament action on Saturday and coming home with the GOLD! They met Pickering at 9:00 a.m., and work- ed hard for a 3-1 win. Justin Halligan made a great play for an awesome goal putting Port ahead 1-0. Three minutes later, Jason Hopkins and Matt Phillips set up Derek Leeming who finally found the space between the pipes for Port's second goal. Way to go Derek! On a rebound from a shot by Chris Drury, Shane Norton popped in number 3. Nice goal Shane. Pickering put one in, in the second period. The third period was scoreless. At 1:00 p.m. they met Uxbridge and enjoyed a big 6-1 win which put them into the championship game. Trevor Smith started the scor- ing with a rush down the ice and a great shot past the goalie. Ux- bridge tied it up. It was Port's game after this with 5 unanswered goal. Jason Hopkins passed over to Robert Gracie who made some nice moves and scored Port's second. Kevin Hobbs and Justin Halligan set up Mike Morden who made sure and put it in. Shane Norton picked up a pair, assists to Jason Hopkins, Trevor Smith, Danny Robinson and Kevin Cochrane. Derek Leeming, for his second of the day, notched one on a play set up by Matt Phillips and Jason Hopkins. These guys were wound up when they met Stouffville in the championship game. This was ex- citing right to the end as Stouff- ville tied it with a minute and 43 seconds left in the game. Port scored the first two in the first period. Mike Morden put it past the goalie. Assists to Kevin Hobbs and Justin Halligan. Shane Norton, who is really playing heads up hockey, scored Port's second. Assists to a hard working Danny Robinson and Kevin Cochrane. Stouffville scored the only goal of the second period. Play went on, back and forth, un- til the last minute when, after a scramble out in front, Stouffville tied it up. With 59 seconds left, Shane Nor- ton started off down the ice, made a great pass to Matt Phillips who tucked it in for the winner. 19 seconds later, Danny Robinson. put the insurance marker in. A well deserved goal for Danny, who just never stops trying. Assists to Kevin Hobbs and Shane Norton.
