iin ys te) PH BL [A Por MoJacks poised (From page 4) had just five shots in the final period, MoJacks had 17. Tempers continued to flare in the final frame and Ref Hous- ton did a fine job keeping the game from going totally out of control. Dave Burnett had three as- sists to go with his goal, and Taylor had a four-point outing with two goals and a pair of helpers. Full marks to Dwayne Mackie for coming off the bench and turning aside all but one of the Eagle shots he faced. And Darrin Lee did a great Job checking Glen Campbell. He was over the Eagle sniper like a blanket all game. Lee, who hasn't stopped skating and working since the first game of the season back in October, has emerged as an inspirational leader on the MoJacks. Despite the lop-sided score, total shots on goal were even in this one: 33 each, including 20 by the Eagles in the middle peri- od. SLAP SHOTS: Who would have thought in this series the Mo- Jacks would score 26 goals in five games, and give up nine? Who would have thought that two of the five games would be blow-outs? It's been a wierd and whacky series so far. Game six is tonight (March 13) at the Scugog Arena with faceoff at 8:30 PM. Game seven if necessary is back in Bowmav- nille Thursday night at 8:30. The winner of the series will meet Napanee in the next round. Bantams drop series opener The Port Perry Bantam No. 1s, - sponsored by Goreski Insulation have moved into the semi-finals for the All-Ontario crown and have collided with a team from East Gwillimbury. Both teams battled it out Fri- day evening as the town of East Gwillimbury set the stage for Game 1 of this best-of-5 series. Should be a beauty as both teams have worked hard to make it this far. Coach Wilbur got the job done before the opening faceoff as he called tails to win the flip. We'll talk about the upcom- ing games later as it's hockey time. Port Perry and Jeff Parry came out flying in game one as Parry's stick had a little magic in it that gave Port an early 2-0 lead. Jeff and his Easton proved to be too much for the Gwillimbury goalie as Jeff scored :15 seconds in at the 14:45 mark as he ripped a howitzer that beat the East stop- per glove side. Assist to J. Cochrane. Then it was Parry again on his first shift as he re-directed a G. Cochrane slapshot at the 14:35 mark, just :10 seconds later than goal number one. Lovely! From this point on it looked like Port would walk all over the Gwil- ly's but that wasn't the case as Port seemed to slow down and hand the game to the East Gwillimsters. East Gwillimbury scored to make it 2-1 at the 11:12 mark of the first stanza. Then two minutes later Port's offence was clearing the East end on a delayed off side when .Bricknell turned on the red light from just outside the blueline. Corey boomed a blaster that seemed to go right through the glove of the East Gwillimbury goalie. It was obvious that their goaltender could be beaten and the game plan was to pepper the net. This did not happen as Port got too fancy with the plays and did not register an ample amount of shots. Then at the 10:32 mark, the Easters made it a 3-2 hockey game as they scored on the powerplay. At the end of 2 stan- za's it was a 3-2 lead for Port. The third frame seemed to be all East Gwillimbury as they scored twice at the 14:14 mark and the 9:56 mark before taking a 5-3 lead by scoring on a penalty shot. A Port player seemed to have jumped on the disc during a tremendous scramble out front of Larocque. Port had numerous chances to score soon after but they could not capitalize on the powerplay. Then at the 5:04 mark McBride and J. Cochrane carried in over the blueline before McBride got a shot on net. Logan was the trailer on this play and "bingo"' it was in the net faster than you can say Gwillimbury. The final score of this game ended up 5-4 in the East's favour. Larocque got the call between the pipes and played pretty well despite this loss. Port now knows what to expect from East Gwillimbury as they are a disciplined team. Port played game 2 last night at home, and the third game is here Friday at 9:15 p.m.. It's then back to Sharon on the 19th at 9:00 p.m, and then the series swings back to Port for game 5 at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday the 21st. Please come out and support thé Bantam No. 1 hockey club and watch some great hockey. Be there or be square.
