6B - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, March 20, 1990 TE Police ask for help in solving two break/enters Crime Stoppers and Durham Regional Police are appealing for the public's help in solving a number of Thefts and Break and Enters which have occurred in Courtice over the past year. Over this time period there have been two Break and Enters and nine separate incidents of Theft at Roy Nichols Motors located on Highway 2 at Courtice Road in the Town of Newcastle. During the Thefts, damage has also been done. The two most recent incidents were the theft of a new customiz- ed Chevrolet van and the theft of wheels and tires from a car. The wheels and tires were taken from an Iroc Z and were worth $3500. The customized Chevrolet van was blue in colour and worth $37,000. There were no plates on it. It was totally customized, both inside and out and had side win- dows. It has since been recovered, minus the running boards, spare tire and rear ladder. It was also damaged inside. The total value of property taken from these premises is NEW PICKERING TRANSIT SERVICE about $100,000. A re-enactment of these crimes will be shown on CITY TV, Chan- nel 57, Cable 7 on Thursday, March 8, 1990 during the 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. news. It will also be shown on CHEX TV in Peter- borough and CKVR TV in Barrie on Friday, March 9 and also over the weekend. Crime Stoppers is asking for anyone with any information on these incidents to call. Thefts like these are occurring at other auto dealerships in our area.
