On Saturday, March 17, Port Perry Pearce Auctioneers played host to Trenton in the third game of their best of five Novice *"'A- BB" Eastern Ontario Finals. Going into this game the Auc- tioneers were ahead in the series 2 games to 0. The Auctioneers were once again playing at home in front of a large Port Perry crowd. Like the first 2 games, Port took their skating game to Trenton right off the bat putting Trenton quickly on the defensive. The Pearce Auctioneers with their "Rushing Defencemen" put Port on the scoresheet first when Dillan Weber lit up the scoreboard at 5:44 of the first period on a neat, unassisted goal on a hard shot from in front of the net. Just 23 seconds later Justin Kowalczyk scored after taking the puck and tucking it under a sprawling Trenton goaltender. At the five minute mark of the first period Casey Vanschagen scored one of his Dipsey-Doodle goals from a nice pass by Adam Hobbs. Fourteen seconds later Casey Vanschagen scored his second goal of the game on a nice give and go pass by Adam Hobbs again. After the first period the scoreboard read Port Perry 4 - Trenton 0. Concaing staff Ken Parry, Bob Spencley and Murray Empringham enjoyed the victory. Novice "captain Dillan Webber accepts Eastern Ont. championship plaque from OMHA rep Rob Armstrong. The Auctioneers were swarming around the Trenton net like 'Bees Around Honey." If it wasn't for the 'Little Trenton Goalie" the score could have been in the double figures. He was up, down, over to the left, the right, in, out and all around. His coach couldn't have asked any more out of his goalie. He was an M.V.P. in his own right. The Never Say Die Auctioneers had the pressure on now for two full periods and it didn't look as if things were going to change much. Whenever Trenton got a chance to get over Port's blueline, the defensive pairings of Dillan Weber and Casey Vanschagen or Justin Kowalczyk and Ryan Moynes would just reverse the puck up ice to a wheeling forward. The scoring in the third period started as fast as it did in the first period. At the 14:22 mark, Adam Port Perry Novice Auctioneers celebrate their victory over Trenton Saturday at the Hobbs scored a beauty on a nice pass by Brad Johnston. At 13:45 Danny Lyons scored on a hard shot from in front of the net, assisted by Scott Jeffrey and Justin Kowalczyk. To round out the scoring Troy Campbell pick- ed the corner on the Trenton goalie on a nice pass from Casey Vanschagen. Recording the "Shut-out" for Port Perry was the team of Cor- ey Branton and Shane Savage. Corey and Shane weren't over worked in this game because "Everybody" on the team did his job making the shots on net a rare thing. The defensive staff of Justin and Ryan, Dillan and Casey, pick- ed the Trenton teams pockets almost every time they were in the Port Perry Zone. Port Perry Pearce Auctioneers scored four of their seven goals short handed and one was with 2 men in the penalty box at the same time. With the High Flying Auctioneers hustle throughout the game, this resulted in the scoreboard reading Port Perry 7 - Trenton 0.
