Gordon Carnegie presented the trophy to Rod Foster; Roy Cornish, vice-skip; Neil Malcolm, second; and Bill Cornish, lead. 20 YEARS AGO 'Thursday, April 2, 1970 The Port Perry Legion Pee Wees travelled to Goderich last weekend to compete in one of Canada's largest Pee Wee Tour- naments and came home the happy winners. Port Perry has competed in this tournament for the past fifteen years and this is their first victory. Uxbridge will have a new public school by 1971. The estimated cost of the 17 room school is $780,000. Mr. Harvey Monahan, Seagrave, is home from the east coast and will be stationed at Camp Borden for a while. Cameron Deeth of Port Perry, better known on the amateur stage as "Buck Hayseed," has volunteered his time & talent and will be appearing Thursday, March 27 on CHEX TV 12 for their 8th annual Telethon for Crippled Children. The newly formed Scugog Rape Crisis Centre has asked Township council for a grant of $1,500 to help cover operating expenses during this year. Scugog Jaycess held a dinner meeting on March 19 and en- joyed a good turnout by their members. The new executive in- cludes, Alan Howell, vice-president, David Tripp, president, Tom Patton, vice-president, Rick Prosser, secretary, Stephen Clark, treasurer and Don MacLaren. The Port Perry MoJack team Most Valuable Player award for the 79-80 season was shared by Phil Cochrane and Bill Bridge. Residents of Williams Point near Caesarea were cut off from their homes Friday night when water from a swollen creek rush- ed across the road. The Port Perry High School Senior Wind Ensemble will be involved in a band exchange in April and May. Bonnie Gerrow told us, 9 girls and 7 boys were born at the hospital since our last meeting. Hazel Coates then showed some of the lovely knitting sent in. Thanks again to all the ladies for giving of their time for all this work. Mr. Brown then spoke, and told us of the progress and work in- volved in the expansion of the hospital, he also told us of some articles that could be bought and put into immediate use, and of course expensive. A discussion re - our card par- ty being held the next day follow- ed. At this time the Auxiliary Ladies would like to thank all the stores for their generous dona- tions to the Euchre & Bridge. On behalf of the Ladies Auxiliary I would like to say "Thank you' to the members who also gave prizes and also to the ladies who worked in the kitchen. There were lots of desserts and thanks to all who came out, and made the card party a success. Florance Hosey Is tops at TOPS (Take Oft Pounds Sensi- bly). Florance was crowned the 1989 Queen at the Port Perry branch of TOPS recently. She reached her goal weight after losing almost 40 pounds.
