Mr. and Mrs. Lamb have been members of Port Perry Agricultural Society for 22 years and have held the position of secretary-treasurer for the past 15 years. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ginn celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, April 4 at Nestleton Presbyterian Church. Mr. and Mrs. Ginn were married in the Blackstock Manse on April 7, 1920 and have lived in Cartwright all their lives. Sharalyn Reader, 15, of Port Perry, came first in Free Skating, first in Com Figures and second in Dance Com- petition in the final skating competition of the Whitby Figure Skating Club, making her the Senior Champion and winner of the Kinsmen Club trophy. After spending three days at Goderich, Jim Phoenix and Glen McKean, Greenbank, returned home champions of the Pee Wee Hockey Tournament. Jim, unable to play due to his bad knee, did his share of cheering. The team of Morley and Lola Bruce, Seagrave and Larry and Dorothy Doble, Uxbridge, won the O'Keefe Annual Bonspiel in Uxbridge last Saturday night. My dear Miss Storry, have you actually ever been inside any of the restaurants in Port Perry, those you so blatantly misrepresented in your article? We think not! You would like somewhere that offers chicken, seafood, steak, burgers or pizza. Come to Trader Sams, or try out the new Pizza Delight. How about going to Emiels or the Gate, they have great menu selection. Not to mention the Burger Press, Patti's Kitchen, The Meating Place, Hole in the Wall Cafe, Hanks, Demetries? We all have choices, not just pizza. Did you know that you can come info our restaurant and have a family evening, birthday party, and play NTN with the kids (as many other families do)? You can have your choice of burgers, chicken, seafood, steak, we won't make you eat pizza every night. Think of it, a fresh home made seasoned hamburger, charbroiled not fried like the Big Mac, with your choice of toppings, - you won't have to scrape off -all that ketchup. You can even order it to go if you like. We cook food right up un- til 1:00 a.m. Where have you been? You seem to be suffering from a twentieth century disease called McMania. It happens to a lot of small children these days, a form of brainwashing. It comes from watching too many McCommercials. .. Come on, really, you sound just like my children, you don't care what it tastes like, you just want the treat of the week! Tell you what, the next time you get a big Mac attack go to your freezer, take out a thinly chopped and formed pre-made patti, throw it in 'the frying pan, press it down a few times to get it really flat, dress it up with pickles, ketchup, mustard, relish, lettuce, tomatoes, throw in the kitchen sink, anything to make it taste better, stick it in a Sesame Seed Bun (woah really gourmet now Kelly) put it in a styrofoam con- tainer and let it sit under a warmer for 10 or 15 minutes before you eat it. You won't need to spend all that money in gas go- ing to Oshawa! - Speaking of styrofoam con- tainers did you know, can you im- TUNING agine, how bad McDonalds is to our environment? All those foam take-out containers in garbage dumps everywhere giving off flurocarbons which destroy the ozone layer. Perhaps if they were a little more concientious, instead of capitalistic to use your own word, they would reduce this by only using them for take-out and not eat-in. A person in your position has a responsibility to the community, you should use it a little more wisely. Do you know, Miss Storry who supports the Port Perry Star? It's advertisers, like the aforementioned restaurants. Can you imagine what would happen to the small businesses in Port Perry should the Big Mc move in. They would suffer considerably, if you take into consideration that McDonalds will not open a fran- chise unless it can gross $40-50 thousand per week minimum. That is probably more revenue than all the small restaurants make, put together! The reason that Port Perry has so many pizzerias Miss Storry is that Port Perry loves pizza, but please don't sell us short. Next time do your homework! To sug- gest we can fix it later is very naive (or deceitful) and is to ig- nore Quebec's infamous bill 178 that overruled the Supreme court of Canada. We are also asked to give our federal government more tax money with the GST (ironically meant to replace the "FLAWED" FST) while Mr. Mulroney gives away hundreds of millions of our money to buildup his popularity on his "Fun in the Sun" travels. A (registered) letter expressing my deep concerns to Mr. Mulroney earlier this year did not even receive the courtesy of an acknowledgement. Would you buy a used car from this man?
