As the ladies registered, music was supplied with Mrs. Ruth Western at the organ. President Joyce Jones welcomed everyone and read a Helen Steiner Rice poem followed by prayer. Hilda Smith greeted on behalf of the Beaverton U.C.W. Eva Worsley and Olive Rodgers of Cameron led in worship based on the theme, "Give of Yourself." Scripture was from Romans 12:1-8, and the hymn Jesus Calls us o'er the Tumult was sung. Joyce Bartley of Norland read the list of names of those deceased during the year, and concluded In Memoriam with singing, Lord, It Belongs Not To My Care. Ladies from Bobcaygeon received the Offering. The theme hymn Take My Life and Let it Be, was sung during the day. Business consisted of the minutes of the 1989 meeting, Treasurers Report, a motion to ask Margaret Lownsborough to be Auditor for another year, and an invitation by Marjorie Thomp- son for the 1991 Annual meeting to be held in Bobcaygeon. Margary Robinson, president of Bay of Quinte Conference U.C.W., brought greetings as did Wm. Huskinson, chairman of Lindsay Presbytery. Janet Lloyd of the United Church Publishing House in- troduced several books which were available at the book display during the lunch hour. Rev. Bar- bara McMath said Grace prior to the delicious meal served by the Beaverton Ladies. After lunch, Mrs. Mary Jo Pat- terson led an enjoyable sing-song and sang a medley of favourite hymns. Carol Thompson introduced our guests, Eberhard and Marilyn Grav. who spent with their two daughters, two years in China, working with the Amity Founda- tion. Marilyn was really impress- ed with the simplicity of Chinese life. They appreciated the eagerness with which these friendly people learned, as they endeavered to teach English. Orlee Wells presented the slate of officers, noting that there are still a few vacancies. Miss Vina Neal is still in charge of In Memoriam, even though she is unable to attend meetings. With Mrs. Margary Robinson of- ficiating, the Presbyterial Of- ficers were installed. Janet Pat- terson of Pinedale expressed courtesies. Spring weather brings Seniors out to meeting A nice crowd of Seniors attend- ed the meeting at Latcham Cen- tre on March 28. Bill Harper open- ed the meeting and 3 new members were welcomed. Win Philp played the piano for O'Canada. Both the secretary and treasurer gave their report which was accepted. Several items of business were discussed, also May 30th is Participation Day and everyone is asked to do some kind of exercise for 15 minutes. Phone into the Latcham Centre and give your name if you join in, even a 15 minute walk or jog around the block. : A big thank you to Janet Ban- ting who gave time and spoke to us about our environment. She told us of many ideas to cut down on our waste materials and elec- tricity. Mary Cannon read the euchre report and Minnie Martin reported a good evening at Herongate Theatre last week. I believe there are 4 double tickets left for Wildwood New Jersey on May 1, so phone Minnie if interested. Please try to attend the church service at Seagrave Apr. 22 at 10 a.m. as the Sr. Citizens Choir will be guests. On Apr. 10 at 2 p.m. the Line Dancers will entertain the Friend- ly Visitors at Prince Albert Hall. Come out and have some fun with us. The members are asked to decorate a hat that represents a song and bring it to the next meeting Apr. 24. A pot luck supper will be held after the meeting followed by some entertainment. The winners for the Looney Draw were Ellsworth Kennedy, Evelyn West, Win Causley, Emme Cox and Isabel Hardiman. The meeting closed with Prayer and everyone enjoyed tea and cookies.
