Nestleton Presbyterian Church The service was conducted by Rev. Fred Swann of Oshawa, in the absence of Rev. Wm. Fairley. Joyce Taylor presided at the organ. Russell Brown and George Scott welconied at the door. The children's story of the P's found in God's garden was il- lustrated as the rows of green peas in a pod - Pardon, Purity, Peace, Purpose, Power and Presence. Theres ive reading was Psalm 24, and Scripture was from Genesis I - selected verses. Rev. Swann spoke on "What is the main concern of our day?" - this being the mis-use of the earth; God's creation. The church should be speaking up, and work diligent- ly following the action ac- - complished on Earth Day. The earth is the Lords. Next Sunday Serviceat 11 a.m. is Mother's Day or Family Sun- dav. A shower of cards would add a bit of cheer to these two friends! Successful Auction at Nestleton W.1. Branch A successful auction followed the regular meeting of Nestleton Branch; held at the Nestleton Community Centre at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. With Rika Wygerde the able auctioneer; assisted by Grace Bajema, the many articles donated; home baking; plants and flowers: brought a goodly sum for the treasury. Barb Weir & Neta Fish took care of the proceeds. This was the first meeting of the W.I. year; with Rika Wygerde, president, and Neta Fish in her new office as secretary - treasurer. Gwen Malcolm played for the Ode and the Collect was repeated. A warm welcome was voiced by Rika to several visitors and members who have been on holiday. After the minutes were approv- ed, and treasurer's statement given, the correspondence was read. Members were advised of Course choices, and a bulletin was read re - current events. Gwen Malcolm is planning the printed programs for year 1990-91. The Roll Call was a Gardening Program on Radio or T.V. and Gwen responded to the Motto: "In the garden of life, seeds of kind- ness give the best crop," with several appropriate poems. Appreciation was expressed by Doris Nottingham to Rika for the interesting afternoon; and to the lunch committee - Norm, Irene & Gwen, for the lovely food and the refreshing cup of tea. Nestleton United Church - On a bright Spring morning, May 6, 11:15 a.m., Nestleton United saw a good congregation with Chuck & Carol Hill greeting at the door. Rev.. Dale Davis extended a cordial welcome to the Woodwind Choir of the Cartwright High School Band and their conductor, John Beirness. After hearing their selections; we thank the choir for their fine gift of music. Warm applause greeted them at the close. The minister's message on "Christianity's GST "' and the S. School's story re- Sharing, were of much interest to the congrega- tion. Scripture from Acts 2: & I Peter 2: was read by Matthew . Hill. Offering rec'd by Chuch & Matthew Hill. Family News Neta Fish, Calvin & Yvonne Holland, Blackstockm, attended the lovely bridal shower held at Omemee Comminity Centre, hosted by an aunt; for Neta"s grandson Calvin Gordon, and bride to be Leanna Whittaker, of Stroud, Ontario. The young couple received many beautiful gifts; and Leanna expressed her warmest appreciation to all pre- sent. A tempting lunch was en- joyed with sandwiches, squares and a gorgeous cake was cut and served. Tea & coffee topped off the refreshments. The wedding will take place in Barrie, on June 30th.
