That mere $28.00 is only to cover the cost of maintain- ing and operating the facility in 1990 dollars. It does not cover the estimate cost of $7.5 million to build the facility. The only extra help Scugog Township MIGHT receive to help with construction will be UP TO a POSSIBLE $1.2 million from government grants. WE PAY THE REST! That's approximately $6.3 million that will have to be raised through LOCAL taxation; debenturing (equivalent to the township taking out a mortgage which will have to be repaid through an increase in the mill rate to cover the principal and interest); reserve municipal funds (which are replaced through the taxation process); and public fundraising (generosity which has been absorbed by the recent fundraising drive for the Community Memorial Hospital Building Fund). $28.00 - Don't be Mislead There's No Free Lunch For more detailed information see the newsletter written by C.A.U.T.
