Garden club hosts spring garden show Pine Ridge Garden Club's Spring Flower Show was quite a success with numerous lovely en- tries. The Junior Garden Club members' ex- hibits were quite lovely & it is enlightening to see how enthused our Juniors are. Winners of the two classes were: 3 tulips any colour - Katie Coates, Kimberley Coates, Michelle Bonsma, 'Singing in the Rain' a Spring arrangement of fresh material in a child's rubber boot - Kelly Coates, Amanda Bradburn, Kristie Coates. Door Prize Winners were Ida Hurtig who won a very informative book on trees donated by Emmerson Insurance, and Shirley Love, a bulb donated by Mrs. Tink. Edith McLaughlin won a pair of pruners donated by Home Hard- ware for the name tag draw. The April bake sale brought in a good- ly sum to be donated to the Hospital Fund. Many thanks to all our members for their baking and to the Meating Place for their dona- tion of pies. Next meeting will be held June 5 at the Nestleton Hall & Guest Speaker for the evening will be Joan Brak on Flower Arranging. The Junior Garden Club will meet at 6:45 p.m. and will be shown how to prepare flowers & vegetable for showing. Please join us at 8:00 p.m. for an infor- - mative '& social evening. Port Perry High School principal Ted Morrison offers his congratulations to Wendy Evans and Tammy Williamson, school team winners in the cosmotology competitions held by the Durham Skills Challenge. Wendy also won the sliver award at the competition.
