Following in the Folk Art tradi- tion, Matt Vanderweff and Jim Brown use found materials to create their sculptural works. Grime Stoppers Jim started making his animals out of scraps of wood for his nieces' and nephews' Christmas presents. Matt's birdhouses, in- spired by rural architecture, got their start from grape crates discarded by his wine making neighbours. Their work has evolv- ed to include furniture, bird cages, and larger sculptural pieces, incorporating driftwood and recycled glass, wood, and metal. Although they work in- dependently, Matt and Jim share a studio and inspiration. Their greatest satisfaction is making people smile. Matt and Jim have won many awards for their work and this year were presented with three at the One of a Kind Spring Show. They won Best Use of Colour, Best Booth Design and Best Public's help needed to solve disappearance of Julie Stanton Crime Stoppers and Durham Regional Police are appealing for the Public's help in solving the disappearance of Julie Stanton of Maury Crescent in Pickering.
