pr ----_ 26 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, June 12, 1990 Social Club holds scavenger hunt Church service this week will be held in Epsom with Rev. Newton Reed of Uxbridge as guest minister. Service at the regular time 11:00 a.m.. The Social Club will hold their get together on Saturday, June 16th at 7:45 p.m. at the Baster home where they will start out on a Scavenger Hunt. Ladies are asked to bring toppings for a Sundae. : It was so nice to see Eric Sobil singing with the choir once again. It was also nice to see Brian Kerry back. Brian has been on a three month trip, experiencing new languages, farming ways and seeing sites of interest. He spent most of his time in Den- mark where he helped out on a farm doing some spring planting. Two weeks were spent in Holland visiting a farm equipment dealer- ship. One of the biggest highlights of his trip probably was going to the big car race in West Germany. There was a big crowd at the euchre on Friday evening in Utica Hall with 17% tables being played. Mrs. Elva Symes of Goodwood visited the Traceys and stayed with Russell & Richard. Congratulations to Richard & Edna Rudkin on their marriage on Saturday in Campbellford. Bruce & Marie Geer and family attended the wedding dance held at Trent River. This week I'd like to send out some get well wishes to Mrs. Lil Lindsay who is home from Oshawa Hospital where she underwent surgery recently, and to Mrs. Rachel Harper who has been a patient at Princess Margaret Hospital for the past week. This past weekend has been very busy with special celebra- tions for several former residents of Prince Albert. Many relatives and friends at- tended "Open House" in Seagrave Church for Gertrude "Martyn" Wanamaker on the oc- casion of her 80th birthday. Wm. and Robina 'McCrea' Nesbitt of Columbus celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. On Sunday several from the area travelled over to Stouffville to help Helen '"'Crosier" Taylor celebrate her 75th birthday. Ron and Betty Deeth celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary when a party was held at the Deeth cottage in the northern parts. Congratulations to all these people. Mr. and Mr. G. Lehmann have returned from a trip to Germany. Les and Grave Beacock were pleasantly surprised to have Laverne and Mary Devitt of Oshawa call on them. Laverne is home from over five months in hospital. The four also attended Gertie Wanamaker's birthday party. On Thursday evening the doors at the Community Centre opened for the weekly euchre. There were 12 tables filled. The lucky win- ners: Moira Clark, Elsie Pogue, Mary Cannon, Tony Krieg, Alvin Spencer, Grace Manns. Lucky draws: Richard Manns, Clara Whitter, Andy Munro. We wish better health' for some of our regular players - you are missed. The regular U.C.W. meeting' | will be held on Wed. evening at 8 p.m. in the church hall. All ladies are invited. This will be the last meeting until fall. Merv and Ilean Pugh attended a surprise birthday party for their daughter Bonnie Solomon on Saturday night. June is sure the month for bir- thdays. Happy birthday to Beth Pereman, Eileen Hodgins, Roy Hope, Grace Cherrie and Leta Doupe and I'm sure there are likely more. Firefighters from Scugog Hall #1 were called to a single motorcycle accident last Wednesday evening. The driver of the bike John Akin, of Oshawa was travelling on Regional Road 21, west of Manchester, when he lost control of his motorcycle, and slid on the pavement. Mr. Akin was treated for a broken collarbone, and released. On Saturday evening June 16 the Couple's Club are having a fun night with a baseball game at 7 p.m. at the Prince Albert School grounds with a barbecue to follow. Come on out and cheer these good sports on. The Couple's eball game Club are always looking for some new members. If you are new in the village and want to meet some of your neighbours, bring your lawn chair or your favorite glove. I'm sure you wouldn't be turned away.
