Sandra, a business student at Sir Wilfred Laurier Univer- sity has started up the compa- ny "Student Painters" in the Scugog area with the help of a $3,000 interest free (summer) Youth Start-Up Capital Stu- dent Venture Loan. The company is a North American franchise that oper- ates in such places as Califor- nia, and recently has started up in Que C. The company will paint hous- es, with exterior work being their specialty. They will also paint eaves, and stain decks. Sandra's summer venture will go towards her diploma. "This is a great experience, it is something you can't learn in a textbook," Sandra said. Before beginning her sum- mer employment Sandra un- dertook an intense training program so she can train her - employees herself. Currently she has two crews, or 10 workers, but she is hoping for three crews once the high schools let out for the summer. She also stated she is looking for university and college stu- dents that need a summer job. Workers are paid based on a piece rating, the faster and neater the painting is done, the more money they will make. "This is a great inspiration for a job well done, and I will not take anything less than a very good rating (on ajob)," she said.
