New coach for Jr C Eagles The Bowmanville Eagles of the Central Ontario Junior C Hockey League have an- nounced that Mike Noonan will coach the team this coming sea- son. Noonan, 36, has coached for the last three years in the Minor Hockey system in Oshawa. Paul Reid, a former player with the Eagles will work as Noonan's assistant, and Bruce Collwell will serve as the team's new general manager. Noonan takes over from former coach Brian Taylor. The Eagles finished first overall in League standings last season, then went down to de- feat by the Port Perry MoJacks on home ice in overtime in the seventh game to decide the League championship. Noonan said playing disci- plined hockey will be one of his priorities this coming season, staying away from penalties and developing a strong power play. Noonan is a former player with the Oshawa Junior B Le- gionaires and Whitby Warriors of the OHA Senior A League. With the Eagles losing nine players to over-age, Noonan will have his work cut out for him recruiting new talent in what will be something of a re- building year for the club. 3 PORT PERRY SN Rd ANNUAL ARMWRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS Festival Tent, Palmer Park, Port Perry SATURDAY, JULY 14th $3,000. in CASH AWARDS & TROPHIES WEIGHT CLASSES Men's Right Hand* - CASH PRIZES - Men's Pro Right-Hand INDIVIDUAL CLASSES sponsored by PRO AMATEUR 0-145 0-145 146-165 146-165 166-185 166-185 186-205 186-205 206 & Over 206 & Over Ladies 0-135; 136 & Over Men's Left 0-175; 176 & Over * PRO-AM for Men's Right Only NO Clothing Allowance NO Late Registrations REGISTRATION 9:30 AM to 12 Noon Authentic Lock & Key Baldwin Sales Bruton's |.D.A.
