Mr. MacDonald was furi- ous last Friday when he re- ceived a complaint about trash dumped along the Scugog- Oshawa boundary road, south of the snowmobile clubhouse. On inspecting the mess, he found about two tonnes of con- struction debris-old drywall, buckets of saw-dust, wood ends, and 40 tires- beside the road. Rooting through the trash, Mr. MacDonald and Ward 1 councillor Neil Hunter found scraps of paper with a person's name and phone number. He told council he called the number, confronted the in- dividual, and was told that a disposal company had been in- structed to get rid of the trash that came from a construction sitein East York. "I Jnesy it is cheaper to bring this stuff out to Scugog Township, throw it beside our roads, then it is to dis of it at a regular landfill," Mr. Mac- Donald said to council. Tipping fees at Metro and Durham landfills are now $97 per tonne, and getting rid of old tires costs $5 each.
