Reptiles at the library The Scugog Memorial Public Library presents herpetologist Jeff McKay, with a fascinating presentation of real, live En- dangered Reptiles Of The World, at the library, Port Perry, on Tuesday, 24 July at 2 p.m. Endandered Reptiles Of The World focuses on the rich diver- sity of animals and reptiles of the environmentally endangered tropical rain forest. Since 1988, in 115 presentations in Eastern On- tario libraries, almost 20,000 children and adults from 5 to 65 years of age have marvelled at the opportunity to observe, touch and understand Jeff's exotic creatures, from a 10-foot Boa Con- Car, deer collide Anincreased deer population continues to create problems for Scugog Township motorists. Durham Region Police report that at least two accidents a week involving vehicle/deer col- lisions are reported to them. On Wednesday, a Prince Al- bert man was driving on Re- gional Road 2 when his vehicle and a deer collided. Damage to the car is estimat- ed at $1,000. Break and enter, pranks a problem in Scugog As the mercury soared last week, so did the amount of calls toDurham Region Police. Police at 26 Division reported a large number of break and en- ters, and acts of mischiefin Scu- gog Township last week. On Friday, building supplies were taken from a construction site on Concession 12 (Scugog Island). The supplies, which included wood, are valued at under $1,000. That same day, a Port Perry man reported to police that youths threw eggs at his car while he was driving north- bound on Simcoe Street. Damage to the car's fender is estimated at $500. On Thursday, a Caesarea man reported that numerous items had been stolen out of his vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the driveway of the com- plaintant's home at the time of the theft. On Wednesday, the body shop at Dennis Anderson Chev- Olds was broken into. Police report nothing was sto- len, but a desk had been rum- maged through. A student working as a paint- er had her purse stolen on Wednesday. The young woman told police her purse was last seen beside her car. That same day, two rural homes were broken into with barbecues, power tools, micro- waves and stereos being stolen. F. G. Stewart Recycling Sys- tems in the Reach Industrial Park was broken into on Tues- day. Over $5,000 worth of equip- ment, including two fax ma- chines and telephones, were stolen. strictor, rare Australian Blue Tongued Skink and bizarre Tree Frogs to the amazing American Alligator.
