28 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, July 31, 1990 Squirt soccer results Good weather brought good play in another week of squirt soc- cer play. Tuesday's action saw Bridlewood North, led by the play making of Adam Moynes and Matt Breen edge the Legion 3 to 2. Chris Medford with the aid of Nicole Vedgaast and Angela Guenther helped keep things close for the Legion. The second match had Trader Sams' Jason Cali-Wittworth and Mike Demaio lead their team to a 5-2 win over Techstar Plastics. Trevor Robins and Mike Giannini with the second place team in this game showed strong performances. Wednesday had two close mat- ches with Van Camp edging Mites softball Greenbank Garden Centre won a really exciting game against Brian's Towing last Monday. For Brian's Towing, Mark Richardson played a very strong defensive game. Bobby Espie and Patrick McKernan batted up a storm. was in fine batting form, Shawna Simmonds played very well as backcatcher and between Joel Thompson on 1st and Bryan Brown at pitch, some awesome plays were made. Thanks kids, you're doing great! Raglan 3-2. Joshua Moore, Jordan Powell, and Gordon Kilner played well for the winners, while Raglan had a strong two way perfor- mance from Matt Welts, Chris Monsma, and Kevin Carter. Nicole Bourgois played well in net. ,Snowden Rubber tied the Lions one-all in the final game. The defense was tough both ways and Snowdens Paul Chuisolo and Michael Dalby had a superb of- fensive effort. Lions Patrick Borek, Lindsay Wilson, and Robert Sheehy performed well in the midfield with impressive drib- bling, while Chris Haertel, D'Ar- cy Stephens and Cory Manns showed passing skills and great defense. Kevin Bryars dug in amidst intense action. There was no report on the Greenbank's Caitlin Donnelly other game In the Port Perry Tennis Club girls junior doubles cham- plonship held over the weekend, Sam and Tasha Vander- Wyst placed second to the team of Melissa Moehring and Quinn Sutherland (not in photo) They won in two straight sets. "Junior double tennis finals Over the hot, sultry weekend," the Juniors Doubles Tennis Tour- nament was held. In the Men's Championship round Jeff Murray & Chris Linton defeated Scott McTavish & Scott Menzies, 6-2, 6-3; Consolation win- ners were Kevin Pike and Chris Jones over Justin Halligan and Rob Murphy, 10-2 in a pro set game. In the ladies doubles Melissa Moehring and Quinn Sutherland . won the Championship over Sam and Tasha Vanderwyst, 6-0, 6-4.
