During the five games played on Saturday & Sunday, Goreski, Williams, and Wells allowed a total of only one earned run and chalked up a total of 32 strike outs along the way. The first game on Saturday morning was a replay of a rained out game in Ottawa a month ago and this game see-sawed back and forth until Greenbank finally won the contest in extra innings by a score of 4-3 on Rod Reals home run. Terry Till and Rod Real each had a pair of hits in the game with Trevor Till, Don Beaton, Brian Till and Wayne Wells each hitting safely. Game two saw the Gamblers and the Ottawa Turpins carry a 2-2 tie into the bottom of the sixth inning when Greenbank pushed across the winning run on a pair of singles and a passed ball by the Ottawa catcher. Mark Goreski pitched the win and scattered five Ottawa hits. The third Gambler game on Saturday had the Gamblers fac- ing Carp who are rated one-two with Owen Sound in the Province, and Lawrie Williams pitched a great game for Greenbank as he scattered five Carp hits but the Gambler defense permitted Carp to score an unearned run in the first inning and another in the MolJacks place third The Port Perry Pee Wee Mo- Jacks dropped a home and home series with Scarborough in the last two weeks, then finished third in the Stouffville tournament on Saturday. Sunday morning saw Green- bank pick up a dozen hits as the Gamblers downed Winchester Dynes by a 7-1 score. In the late game on Saturday night Win- chester had defeated Owen Sound 1-0 for the big upset of the tourna- ment, but they could not hold Greenbank who scored 7 runs in support of Wayne Wells' four hit pitchings. This produced the only run of the ball game and gave the Gamblers a 1-0 victory for their fourth win in five tries during the tournament. Both Goreski and Segovin allowed 4 hits but Ottawa never got a runner past second base. The Greenbank team deserve much credit for their showing in Owen Sound for their excellent pitching and timely hitting. Also the Gambler defense which was shakey early in the tourny got turned around and played great defense during the Sunday games. The Gamlers outfield was strong throughout the weekend - with Terry Till, Greg Warriner, played, but came out on the short end of an 11-3 score. Chad Kearns threw the first 3 innings, fanning 3 and allowing 5 hits. Bill Zaparanuik tossed a 1-2-3 inning and struck out one. The second game was against Stouffville and featured a deter- mined pitching effort from Bill and a rare offensive comeback.
