The donation was the first installment in a $15,000 commitment from the bank's Our People Fund to the hospital. FESTIVAL OF SOUND Get entries ready for Port Perry Fair Participating in the Homecraft Division at the Port Perry Fair is both fun and rewarding. Ladies are encouraged to enter and join in the fun of exhibiting at the fair. In the Flowers Class you can exhibit asters, dahlias, gladiolus, marigolds and much more. In the Potted Plants you can ex- hibit an African Violet, Begonia or a hanging plant. Types of arrangements, using real flowers, include "Why Not?" - wild flowers and/or weeds in an unusual container; 'Wee Folk" - miniature design. All sections have prize money for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. A detailed list of the Flower Class can be found in the Prize List Book. The Domestic Science Class is for those who enjoy working in the kitchen. Another pie special, offered by Dave Mann in memory of his mother, is for a Strawberry/Rhubarb Pie. Prize money is 1st - $25, $15 and 3rd - $10. First prize for this Special becomes the property of the Sponsor. Once again the Orange Lodge is offering a special for Dark Fruit Cake. First prize becomes the property of the Fair Board. Prize money for this is 1st - $75; 2nd - $30; 3rd - $20; 4th - $15. First prize will also be given a trophy, for their possession for one year. In the Canning Class you can exhibit your homemade jams, marmalades and jellies. There is also a section for pickles and sauces. The Golden Age Class is for anyone 60 years or more. You can exhibit a set of 2 placemats, char- coal drawing, collection of buttons, spoons or salt & pepper shakers. In the Needlework Class there are various quilts, crocheting, sewing articles to exhibit. Prize money for all sections will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Organizations are invited to. participate in the fair. Prize money is 1st - $25; 2nd - $20; 3rd - $15 and $10 for each other display. The theme this year is Bridal Shower. If your interest is in Crafts & Hobbies, a few items to exhibit in this class are a folk art item, ceramic item, silk flower ar- rangement and oil painting. This class has a Men's Corner where you can enter an article of hook- ing, pencil sketch 'or woodcarving. Photography this year has eight sections to enter. A few examples are sunset - any season, water fun in lake or pool. I have only touched briefly on each class. There are a lot more articles that you can exhibit. A detailed list can be found in the 1990 Prize List Book. Copies are available at the library, Chamber of Commerce Tourist Booth or by contacting the Secretary at 985-3819.
